I have done this route before and it has always stayed with me as one of my most enjoyable journeys.
We can stop for two days and then continue south on rivers and cannals through beautiful countryside towns and villages and the opportunity of a new French restaurant each evening,
We do not travel at night.

My yacht "BOLARO" a 30ft sloop will take the French Inland Waterways route to the Meditarranean in June July 2017 about 4 weeks.
There is a double or two single friends berths in the fore cabin and two singles available in the saloon plus Captain's birth.
We share breakfast and picknick lunch.

Here in Greece it is poring with rain, tomorrow Wed 17 I am back in the U.K.
I have been getting the Catamatan ready for the season she is called TILLY.
A few more bits to do on the yacht Bolero then in the water.

The main thing about the 3 week French Waterways voyage across France to the Med is the fantastic journey itself and not the type of boat.
It is a slow journey 4 miles per hour through wonderful sceenery, we stop at night and find a resteraunt or cook by the riverside.
Look around towns such as Paris.
I can take 3 people maximum, 4 if two share the double forecabin.

I am in Greece for two weeks in my Catamaran.
This is for sailing hols in Greece.

I am now taking another yacht to join the Cat Going through the French inland Waterways right across France via Paris coming out at the Med near Montpillier 30 mins by bus.

Then sailing to Sardinia Corsica Elba Italian Islands Greek Islands .

So a two part trip leaving Portsmouth U.k. about 3rd week in June but can...

Gordon Fraser Crossing France on the Waterways is beautiful, we do not travel at night so can visit a local village or town or Paris. Use a restaurant or eat on the boat or riverside. 2 months ago
