Articles' Authors Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions. If you have something that's not answered here, feel free to reach out!
Can I re-post an existing article?
We ask that articles submitted be unique and original. We do not accept articles that have already been published or submitted elsewhere online (not even on your personal blog) or that you plan to distribute to other publications or websites. Also be sure to check our Articles section to make sure your article hasn’t already been published.
How do I get listed on your site as an Author?
Start by asking us for Authoring Privileges. Once you’ve had 2 pieces published, we’ll feature your profile on the website. Once you're featured, we’d love you keep sharing pieces with us on a regular basis and win sS$ points and have the rest of the Benefits!
Can you help me build my personal audience?
Since we do not compensate contributors for articles, we're more than happy to include a BY-line and your brief Biography containing links to your website, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter accounts, which we will promote on Facebook and Twitter when your article is live in the Articles section. Please keep your biography to just 2-3 sentences. We know you are up to plenty of amazing things and want soSAILizers to be able to follow along.
How long until my article is published on the website?
We can assure you that we carefully read each submission that we receive. If your article has been accepted, we will respond and publish it within 2 days. If your article has not run within 1 week of submission, we have passed on that submission. You're always welcome to submit another idea!
How long should my article be?
We prefer articles in the 200 to 700 word range. Don't hold us to that though, if you've got a compelling article, that's certainly not an issue.
What’s the tone you’re looking for?
Keep it positive. We all love sailing and want to share that excitement with soSAILizers. With that said, if you’ve got a witty tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, by all means, share it with us!
Any feedback on title ideas?
A great title has the potential to grab a reader’s attention and make them want to read your article. If you’re having a tough time coming up with one, ask yourself: What problem am I solving? or How would I explain this to a friend?
Anything else I should know?
Each author is responsible for promoting their stories to their friends, family, and the internet world at large. Let’s help more people get sailing! By submitting to soSAILize, you acknowledge that you accept our terms and any form of editing that might occur on behalf of soSAILize editorial team.
