36-foot sailboat Abba

HYANNIS - Windy weather pushed a sailboat ashore just west of Keyes Memorial Beach.

The 36-foot sailboat Abba, which had been moored off the Hyannisport breakwater, was on its side in the surf and a crew was waiting for the wind to subside so they could pull it back out.

Two other small boats had also come aground nearby, according to the Barnstable harbormaster’s office.

High tide in the area was at 1:45 p.m.

Winds this afternoon are expected to be around 18 mph out of south with gusts up to 27 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Continued scattered showers and thunderstorms are also likely with seas of one foot or less.
