The U.S. Coast Guard searched Wednesday for three boaters near Santa Cruz Island, authorities said.
At 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Coast Guard station at Channel Islands Harbor received a call from a woman reporting her husband on Saturday left Ventura Harbor with two other boaters, the operator and his wife, said Coast Guard Petty Officer Sondra-Kay Kneen.
The woman said the boaters were heading to Santa Cruz Island in a 35-foot sailing vessel and scheduled to return Tuesday. The names have NOT been released , the name of the boat is “Tenacious”.
The Coast Guard Command Center in Los Angeles immediately launched a HH- 65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Forward Operating Base Point Mugu in Ventura County along with the Coast Guard Cutter Blacktip from the Channel Islands Harbor to search for the missing boaters, Kneen said.
The passenger was last in contact with his wife around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Anyone with information about the missing boaters was asked to contact Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles Command Center at : # DELETED
The three were located Wednesday aboard their vessel at Albert Anchorage on the backside of Santa Cruz, Kneen said.
There were no injuries and the vessel was not in distress, she said.
She added that apparently there was a miscommunication about when the trio would return; they had not planned to head home until Thursday.
The names of those aboard were not released.
