man faces charges after sail boat towed to shore

Grey County Ontario Provincial Police received a marine call requesting assistance after a sailboat had begun taking on water in Georgian Bay.

Police also received information regarding an assault that had taken place onboard the vessel.

The Canadian Coast Guard, Rescue Coordination Centre in Trenton (RCC Trenton) was notified.  A helicopter and a plane assisted in the search.  The sailboat was subsequently located and towed to the Owen Sound Marina by the Coast Guard rescue vessel “Cape Providence”.

As a result of the domestic-related investigation, a 57-year old male from Honey Harbour was arrested and charged with assault.  He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on October 27.

The victim, a 47-year old female from Brooklyn, New York, USA, suffered minor injuries.
