Sailing vessel Lieveling ran aground near Cape Puget, north of Kodiak, Alaska, on Monday.
Coast Guard Sector Anchorage watchstanders had received a radio call from the man Monday afternoon. He asked for help and said his boat, Lieveling, was drifting toward rocks. He said he was wearing his survival suit, according to the Coast Guard's statement.
The watchstanders diverted the Coast Guard Cutter Mustang crew. They requested an MH-60 helicopter crew and HC-130 airplane crew from Air Station Kodiak. The Mustang and helicopter crews arrived around 2 p.m. and spotted the man ashore, according to the Coast Guard.
The helicopter landed on the beach and took the man to Seward "with no medical concerns," according to the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard has not identified the man rescued.
