The CROSS AG (Regional Operational Center for Surveillance and Rescue Antilles-Guyane) coordinated a rescue operation on a catamaran

on fire, off Bellefontaine and prompted immediate rescue.

They engaging nota The DRAGON 972 Civil Security helicopter as well as the RACAM helicopter Customs.
At the same time alerted by smoke, fishermen also went to the fire area to provide assistance.


The catamaran's owner managed to escape the flames by sheltering on its annex. The wrecked brought back safely to Case-Pilote, was taken care of by the firefighters and the CHUM.


No victim should be deplorable. The ship could not be recovered, it kept drifting offshore.


CROSS AG regularly disseminated safety messages to surfers to prevent them from a drifting wreck in the area.


The Prefect of Martinique as well as the CROSS AG, would like to thank the fishermen who went to the area to provide assistance as well as the witnesses who reported through their many calls, this fire.
