The third major event on the 2016 ORC championship calendar is the ORC Sportboat European Championship being held in Chioggia, Italy over 24-29 May 2016 and organized by Il Portodimare. The ORC Sportboat class is limited to boats under 2000 kg in weight and between 6-9 m in length with displacement to length ratio less than 4.50.

1 Organizing Authority

 The ORC Sportboat European Championship 2016 is organized by IL PORTODIMARE A.S.D.  under the authority of Federazione Italiana Vela (FIV) and Unione Vela Altura Italiana (UVAI) and under the overall authority of World Sailing (WS) and Offshore Racing Congress (ORC). 

2 Rules

2.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the current edition of the Racing Rules  of Sailing (2013 – 2016 RRS). 

2.2 The following rules shall also apply:

a) International Mesurement System (IMS) Rule

b) ORC Rating Systems Rule

c) ORC Championship Rules

d) ORC Sportboat Class Rules

e) WS Offshore Special Regulations for Category 4. Exceptions to the OSR Category 4 rules  regarding but not limiting to lifelines and pulpits/pushpits are allowed to: boats of One Design classes having ORC One Design Certificate together with respective One Design Class certificate, with no modifications to the hull, appendages and sail plan configuration. 

2.4 No national sailing authority prescription will apply except that Italian competitors shall be in

compliance with the Italian Sailing Federation rules (FIV). Other Italian Federation

prescriptions do not apply.

2.5 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text shall take precedence.
