Mark the date in red on the calendar of lovers of the sailing tradition and for the merely curious interested in knowing the sea life. From 27 to 30 August the "Palinuro" school ship of the Navy will stop in the port of Otranto .
A unique opportunity, to be able to observe closely the schooner, launched in 1934 in Nantes with the name of "Commandant Louis Richard", engaged in the 55th Campaign of Education of the Marshals of the Petty Officer of Taranto that, during their stay on board, they will complete the knowledge acquired during the academic year on land.
In the wake of the most ancient seafaring traditions, as only a sailing ship can transmit, they will have the opportunity to try their hand at nautical sciences, they will learn the dynamics of life on board, the rhythms and seafaring customs.
This first boarding experience will strengthen the trainee's character, consolidating his sense of responsibility and stimulating the initiative in overcoming the typical difficulties of sea life, but it will also be a unique opportunity to strengthen the body spirit and sense of belonging typical of the "professionals of the sea".
How to visit it
During the period in port, the sailing ship will exhibit the material of the Leonardo 500 project. Citizenship, enthusiasts of the sailing tradition and the merely curious will be able to visit Palinuro in the following ways:
August 27th : from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm; 28 and 29 August : from 10.00 to 12.00 and from 16.00 to 19.00. At 3.00 pm on August 27th 2019, the Captain will meet the press to present the Unit and the current Education Campaign.
