  • Notice Of Race Aegean Regatta

    1) Organizing Authority:

    The Aegean Regatta 2016 is organized by the Greek (Hellenic) General Secretariat of the Aegean and Island Policy, in co-operation with the Greek (Hellenic) Sailing Federation / Hellenic Offshore Committee (H.S.F / H.O.C.). 

    2) From 2001 the Aegean Regatta sailed along the Aegean islands of Lesvos, Hios, Oinousses, Samos, Leros, Ikaria, Kos, Simi, Rhodes, Limnos, Samothraki, Andros, Lipsi, Patmos, Astipalea, Tilos, Skopelos, Amorgos, Kalimnos, Nisiros, Thasos, Syros, Skyros and continues to visit new destinations.

    The Aegean Regatta has achieved not only to strengthen the economy of the bordering islands, to get the yachtsmen/women throughout Greece into contact, but also to give the opportunity to many foreign crews to get to know of the islands' culture.

    Furthermore, they achieved to promote sailing not only as a means of entertainment but as a means of contribution and way of life, as well.

    3) Advertising – DP/NP

    3.1 World Sailing Advertising Code will apply.

    3.2 Event Advertising by the Organizing Authority may be:

    a. Bow numbers with advertisement which has to be displayed as

    forward as possible on the both sides of the hull.

    b. Sponsor’s flag that has to be flown on the backstay throughout

    the entire event.

    3.3 Boats carrying personal advertising must present the permission of

    their National Authority.

    3.4 The Organizing Authority may also require the installation, at no cost

    to competitors, of on-board video cameras, position devices, and guest

    riders whose on-board position restrictions are defined in the Sailing

    Instructions.

    4) Eligibility and Classes

    4.1 Competitors shall comply with World Sailing Eligibility Code

    4.2 The regatta is open to all boats with valid ORC International, ORC Club or IRC Rating Certificate. 

    4.3 Classes are defined as follows:

    a. ORC Performance (open to ORCi and ORC Club boats)

    b. ORC Sport (open to ORCi and ORC Club boats)

    c. IRC (open IRC Endorsed and non-endorsed boats)

    4.4 Each boat can participate only in one of the above classes.

    4.5 To assign a title to a class the number of boats shall be not less than 5.

    5) Entries

    5.1 Eligible boats may pre-register by completing the Event’s Web Entry Form. 

    5.2 There is no entry fee.

    5.3 The organizer is not responsible for any costs incurred by the nonacceptance of a boat’s registration.

    5.4 Late entries may be accepted at the organizer's discretion.
