in our last sailing Journal we spent
three days on the island of Bora Bora
voted year after year the most beautiful
place on earth you would have loved to
have had more time to explore but we had
sent him home on route to meet us in the
Cook Islands and we still had a four-day
sail in front of us so we are on almost
on our third day at sea so no on
expected or on our second day well we've
had few nights tonight
second a good firing the limb picked up
but we're going super fast gone eight
point one eight seven six wins ik not
come very fast holy [ __ ] Ronnie nice
team reach which is our folks table in
sales this morning
well last night we can't think I was
sleeping or on lots out of here last
night and you can you say it
they were vote sleeping no we're
we're south of any logical route to any
boat with it there's no reason to be
this far south most creatures are going
to go explore the island north of us
we're bypassing all that and going way
for the south and anybody would and any
fishing or commercial boat like nobody
should be out there is no reason good
let's go Colton yeah and then so we work
with me I heard a thump that didn't
sound right I'll call it something foul
down inside and nothing did then it
heard another something merely after
basically something hit a hole and hit a
runner or either lame so I look down at
Polly's life buoy
in some fishing believe I got cut off
what happened sorry the little
nerve-wracking look scary well yeah
we've all seen a Oliver
yeah day one was thanks to the heart I
don't know why we've haven't been a
fascist in a while
I don't know what I wasn't looking this
is wearing terrible well the sea state
was like a little confused yeah so it
hasn't been sailing in a long time
[Music]
[Applause]
just to life an anchor well this is a
little tricky so this is how awesome
because it is rocking and rolling making
a full-on meal in here um conform hash
potatoes and eggs
she she's definitely the rocks out of
the month last at the time from the
beautiful that is
[Applause]
she just ate a big-ass breakfast and
he's asking to my humble what time is it
B we are under 20 hours away from our
definition we're kind of sick of all the
turbulence outside but we have gotten
awesome projector setup and we're just
going to lay down pretend nothing's
happening outside and have a little a
little bit of a movie move now howdy
this is the [ __ ] I was absolutely now
here I was a lot like real out men
rarely
wait that was the cedar plug $4
yeah oh that's a bummer day seven ago
mine PC PC
[Applause]
come on Pacific use my coat mrs. Scott
must've worked because ten weeks later
we were reeling in a nice big momma nice
[Music]
we are on day three of our four-day
passage and a few things that always
strike us as particularly amusing when
we go underway is that the boat no
matter how clean it was before we laugh
everything turns into a complete pigsty
the second that we set sail that
includes us so we've got like cabins to
just get totally out of control
we've got with exactly the controls and
everything trying to shower when the
boat is rocking back and forth and back
and forth requires some seriously
advanced acrobatics
that no one's really willing to do so
you end up staying in the same clothes
for days at a time and showering while
we could do it this just feels like it's
more work than it's worth
so brush our teeth and change our
underwear and then just say that will
clean up ourselves in the boat when when
we get Tholian so don't worry afternoon
Morgan by the time we see you we will
smell good and the both of you proper
so is that a lot of work
until then
we're about 15 minutes away from the
entrance to the Rarotonga harbor and we
really have no idea what to expect a few
guides that we do have and these guides
are all a cruiser generated so it's just
people's accounts of things we've
experienced in the past and the guides
that we have read everybody is saying
something different on what to expect
some people say that your vote will get
forwarded by the customs officials and
you'll have to throw it all of your
fresh fruit and meat
other people are saying you might have
to tie up your boat to a tree if there's
no space on the dock but just like all
sorts of crazy things so we really
really don't know what to expect we're
kind of in a little bit of a freakout
mode and so the first time since leaving
Mexico we have an abundance of fresh
produce thanks to our last provisioning
run in French Polynesia and I'm in a mad
rush to cook everything so that it will
be prepared food and not fresh food it's
a lot going on so we'll see what happens
okay we didn't know what to expect but
we really didn't expect what we got and
that's this will be home for the next
week
so skipping container as you can see
we're moving more than we would at sea
if we're not sexy
we are anchored out and I think we're
better off than any of the boats turn
tide here let's hide on the dock to be
honest that's a lot
well worth part of it is we're paying
for this unfortunately we couldn't get
off the boat just yet we had a mess to
clean up
how many times have we tried to organize
under this table in the last hour
like would you say we've tried like
three times ten times yeah exactly
well the fix is now almost empty so this
is it we've arrived in Rarotonga this
was extremely stressful for me anchoring
here is a very very very small space and
we're supposed to anchor probably right
there by the Med mooring like along
there but I don't think we have lines
there long enough and strong enough for
that so we opted to anchor our ready
front of this guy instead ah we
definitely made sure we set well because
we are right at the entrance of the past
but I guess I guess we don't really have
a choice we've been calling customs on
the radio for the past four hours it's
11 responded you're not supposed to go
to land around quarantine so I we got
our quarantine flag but I don't know for
more great the rules and we go get them
or or what we do because they're not
responding already
so I just woke up and the only one awake
its flooring inside and of course we got
a leak here and there and worst of all
Oh
we're right by this buoy not a good
thing not where we should be
so here you can see what's going on we
were over there when we went to bed
and now we'll right there and that's the
wreath right there the interest of
harbor that's what I green flashing
light is so basically when the squall
comes through that comes do it totally
different wind direction and what I was
worried about going on day good morning
not so good morning we're not at sea
anymore
it is slap you would not notice that
we're not at sea we're moving more than
we did it see what's a rating of a
Rarotonga so far from one to ten
negative for miserable I hate this place
like we're moving more than we did
underway I'm seasick in bed I don't
really get seasick I feel like I'm going
to get fit and well let's go for one
going for a run means we've got a paddle
over is nothing an output in the water
fear success your paddle over in a half
board in choppy ass water and then it's
dock there's just like roaches I don't
know what they are but they're like
sounds in the bugs with all underneath
the stocked freakin disgusting and like
there's no dingy doctors then you just
slapping up against the concrete every
time I can will fell in the water
yesterday
yeah we'll most popular thing it will
pop their dinghy
we hate rubber comics and they charge
you to be in here no that's part good
aren't you
what like three dollars a foot charge
you two dollars and 20 cents a meter so
we're 12 meter boat so it's going to be
25 bucks a day
it's so ridiculous they charge you like
we're anchored in hell
okay there's no protection there's no
water there's no dental facilities
you're a flower they give us a key to
the bathrooms they charge us ten dollars
for the key
yeah and it's disgusting it's like
taking a shower a porta potty
I think the camping sites we went to oh
my god are you kidding
sozin's are nice yeah like camping in
Utah is like luxury this is gross
I wouldn't put my naked body in that
shower sometime I covered body in that
shower is plate but what do we find some
cheap what beer yeah - booth I guess if
we can drink our pains away but when
you're this nauseous laying in bed like
you don't really want to drink anyway
and everything smells like fried
something like deep fryer all right
gene has a morning complaint sesh I'm
sharing my feelings she was sharing our
feelings let's see if this changes to
the next week so please that's not
happening we're not my time of that and
then they want you to get on and off the
dinghy on those ladders
[Applause]
you know almost fell in the water by the
way getting off the boat for the first
time ever look at that look at that
[Music]
about the whole situation do I think
that Rarotonga is one nightmare after
yeah that's a [ __ ]
like that let's not sugarcoat it
welcome to a lon
with immigration and boat cleaning out
of the way we only had 24 hours to
complete our chores before our friends
arrive on the list refilling our propane
exchanging money replacing our spare
parts and provisioning New Zealand money
well buzzkill moment right see what
we've been taking our prices for a past
day we've got two eyes two eyes the US
dollar was stronger than both the
Australian dollar and the New Zealand
dollar so we've been walking around by
stuffing and things being really cheap
to us and we're very excited and finally
we found a place where prices for
quarters two American places that we
print the bank and she told us we're
only getting 66 cents for every 76 cents
per US dollar seventy six cents every us
now it's clothing is very mortgages we
got our introduction to Rarotonga was a
bit rough but with the arrival of our
friends came the reminder that with good
company comes good times no matter where
you are stay tuned for more adventures
in Rarotonga next week until next time
