last time on sails and Tails we did the

survey in C trial and we purchase our

very first sailboat it was an absolutely

picture-perfect day and we felt like a

couple of pros pulling up to this T dock

without any complications and we were

more than happy to stay put so that we

didn't have to try and wrangle her into

a slip for the first time but the day

wasn't over yet

we still had over three hours drive time

to go pick up the pups hit the West

marine store and get back to the boat

when we got back to the boat we were

absolutely exhausted so he pulled out

the seti

and fell fast asleep

the biggest mistake we made as new boat

owners was not paying attention to the

weather while being tied up to the tea

dock in these conditions isn't ideal

it's not the end of the world either but

Mother Nature had another surprise for

us what's happening strong and sustained

winds that Jerry was just talking about

it's actually lowered the level of the

water here take a look at some of this

video I shot just a little bit earlier

you can see the water level is down so

much that some of the boats are

essentially dry docked on the sandbars

there and this is how we learned about

Estrin storm tides or more commonly

known as wind tides so basically a

strong sustained wind in the right

direction can lower or increase the

water levels in the Croton Pamlico and

Albemarle Sound three three thunders

came with the boat two which were semi

inflated and one was totally deflated

there's a powerboat and I'll show you

brand-new check the boat put another

line on it this morning so me sitting on

the edge of the dock holding the boat

keep stanchion from slamming into the

darkness the water hit we were lucky

enough for him to go get us some more

fenders which made life a lot easy

anyway this is a this is one of the

Carolina made fishing books and

especially be going to New Jersey as

soon as they can get a good weather

us some fenders thank you so much it

really made our day cause the winter one

over 20 mile an hour we're at t pier

like a mess and there's two pylons that

our port side

we're trying to keep tenders on the boat

off every now and then one of the

fenders roles of the pilot and the

stanchion crashes into the Sun beautiful

so this is how you imagine spending your

first date owning a boat no grand

visions of cleaning organizing inventory

starting out that way now the magma

and I'm cleaning this nightmare of a

mess first day yeah what's that way

a couple days later and the weather is

absolutely perfect and this worked out

for us because this would be the day

that we will move our boat to her new

slip

to get on and off the boat easily
