we left Perth headed for Darwin in the
top end of Australia a distance of over
2,000 nautical miles our first stop was
to a braless islands situated 35
nautical miles west of Geraldton when we
left Perth
it was beautiful wasn't it and we we
just set off on a just a perfect day and
here it is we knew that there was a
low-pressure system further north and we
ran into it pretty quick so we went
through the night actually on a spinet
but when we woke up this is sort of what
confronted us we sort of just tucked in
and out works we thought I will just be
close hauled into some in some North
Elise and you can see that we are close
hauled away but a pretty good laying on
so we just thought we'd deal with that
and then hopefully as the low-pressure
system worked out we'd be on a beam
reach that didn't happen just ended up
close reach the whole way but on that on
the upside we had a we had a ball in
that weather I mean you're really going
fast you can see a lot of grey clouds
and and that what we what we didn't film
was the lightning storm that we went
through we actually disconnected all the
electronics and then just batten down
really
[Music]
but all that hard sailing was worth it
for the Welcome Committee on the other
side
[Music]
[Music]
we visited hillside island and looked at
the Sabbats there's plenty and save out
there and that was an island that way
they used to mind bran oh yeah that's
right if anyone doesn't know what guano
is that's the accumulated bird food of
centuries and people would dig it up for
the phosphates Liza yeah
[Music]
wind returned with a vengeance and it
actually got so strong that our wind
generator cut out the particular stuff
to any lady too much energy
[Music]
so even with the water maker going and
the solar panels and everything she's
getting 440 volts batteries are full
[Music]
so he said goodbye to the Passat group
of islands and we were off to the east a
group of islands yeah and it was
beautiful conditions again and we throw
out a fishing rod didn't we well threw
out of law
so a big hammer hit pin before I've it
stucked at the lower answer
Rocinha Oh China we fed the cioppino to
the shocks but it wasn't long before he
had another tuner on the world because
it's on autopilot there'll be constant
pressure so as long as we don't do
anything too erratic this little fish
should come home nicely this pump wind
it down early bring him up one Dan
so get related to the road tip
to get the gap
so there we go that low he's a pro 160
has done it for about the hundredth time
this color and this one the LP 160 shall
lead all of us
I've used this from pens and now we're
here in the Aramis and it's still
feeding these I love this law called out
fish so that's it time to put it all the
way this was a little yellow thing we
waited till we got in where is a big car
mark because you can see we're just
ripping along and then we process the
fish you can see I had to do it in the
cockpit that's just one of the drawbacks
of a small boat but we manage it we've
got a procedure and it was well worth of
the precious machine
[Music]
and once the Philips came off the tuner
then of course we had to skin it and by
this stage a whole bunch of Pacific and
silver girls had seen what we're up to
and they were complicated fresh air
which we gave them but they did have to
look out for the neighborhood sharks
[Applause]
injustice where we were anchored near
white bank we'd seen a few seals through
the binoculars and we'd heard that they
were quite used to humans so I took off
in the kayak and went for an explorer

sky
[Music]
that was quick
how long were you gone for like ten
minutes long enough to get food
when we moved to the Wallaby group
that's when we saw the best example of
all the fisherman shacks on the islands
and then we went and we did a little bit
of fishing it was nothing serious we're
just having a look to see what was
around
[Music]
whilst at the hipper Ellis Islands I
took a keen interest in the history of
the Batavia the flagship of the Dutch
East India Trading Company which sunk on
morning reef in the world a big group in
1629 here under pearl side and the
skipper Jacobs and some of the survivors
left in the ship's longboat for Batavia
or what is now known as present-day
Jakarta to organize a rescue party their
departure left the under commander
Geronimo scorned elites in charge who
sent away the soldiers on the pretext of
finding food and water then gathered his
fellow mutineers and murdered anyone
unwilling to join them or who didn't
suit his plans
with leaves to create massive smoke
signals in front of me and is instable
of the island which is where they
initially went to find water for
parenting
they were on a win and there was a
meeting about when the soldiers signaled
fires were unanswered they may have been
confused but this confusion was
dispelled when escapees from the
massacre started arriving on the island
the survivors also had news of the
mutinies plan to attack the island under
the leadership of webby Hayes the
soldiers constructed this fort with a
view of the beach when the mutineers
arrived they had to wade ashore and the
soldiers only had improvised weapons so
they threw rocks into the water aiming
to whet the invaders gunpowder the
soldiers won the battle taking Geronimo
scorn alerts captive the soldiers also
built a second fort at the fresh water
well we suspected that it may have been
to guard this precious source of water
the mutineers attacked the soldiers a
second time in order to try to take back
kornel it's during this battle both the
meet news and the soldiers spotted a
rescue ship on the horizon and a racing
suit webby Hays rushed to a raft they
constructed out of driftwood from the
remains of the Batavia and managed to
warn pelsaert that the mutineers were
coming to seize the rescue ship the
mutineers were arrested by pelsaert and
were hung on the island for their crimes
two of the minor mutineers were left
marooned on the mainland of Australia to
fend for themselves this chapter in
Australian history cost the lives of
more than 100 men women and children
