so another beautiful day sailing in
Newfoundland and Labrador we're just
crossing Strait of Belle Isle
we've got icebergs all around us
one freighter mmm about to pass in front
he's about five miles the BBC Volga
we're watching him on a is yeah nice
light ten knots of wind here and it's
right on the port beam so we're just
reaching across and when we're about ten
miles away from Chateau Bay Henley
that's where we're gonna go in and we
left
naughty bay this morning at about nine
o'clock be there in an hour
a great sale straight about oil and
we're just about to enter Chateau Bay
[Music]
we're anchored here in Henley Harbor
boats just down over here this is
actually schoolhouse cold schoolhouse is
just up here and so we're just going to
walk around this abandoned out port
there are all kinds of collapsed
buildings couple of buildings that still
look in reasonable shape gajillion boats
collapsed boats and fishing stages all
kinds of stuff so it's going to be
interesting exploring walking around
today and we're being scolded by some
kind of a little bird at the moment
and the ceiling was all painted with
like clouds blue sky and clouds
well how nice a little visit from that
Fisheries guys
no nets no visions old your shotgun
yeah I could hear this
got a wee bit of horsepower another four
you know I didn't whether it was a
fishing boat or what it was do our
foghorn cuz I mean it's starting to live
now but I couldn't see him till he was
yeah it's pretty it's pretty sucked in
this morning
[Music]
well they certainly show show up well on
radar
so we're on our way from Henley Chateau
up to bat alarms about 25 miles and
there's this magnificent Berk here
real
a raid on our course fortunately they
show up quite well with our new quantum
radar
beautiful looks like the Matterhorn
what kind of depth is it yeah it tides a
bit low
the four o'clock we set off on this
foggy day from Henley Harbor I couldn't
see 10 feet we love mistake was that
foggy but we did anyway and we had a
good motor saying we didn't sail much on
the way up and we are now in battle we
came in through the tickle over my
shoulder now shrouded in fog and we're
just waiting for the dinner bell because
the new dining room is open here at
battle and we have reservations 6
o'clock for two so it's gonna be nice to
stop we were here three years ago
exactly to the day a wonderful battle
Harbor in Labrador
[Music]
so where are we going today
we are
Mary's Harbor from battle Harbor
don't the the main the North Channel of
their past Tilly's point past Black Rock
this series of little islands here that
are just boiling with with the surf and
creating this all this foam on the water
there's a little lighthouse right here
the fog has abated it was really thick
and Misty this morning but it's burned
off you can see it all off in the
distance here but right now it's
beautiful it's sunny and we're on our
way to Mary's Harbor to take on just a
little bit of fuel and check our water
tanks and
now just see what the town is life
[Music]
whose day for it
I've never seen so much foam
a little bird oh and there's the river
here
[Music]
what do we have here so we bought fresh
crab here today in Mary's Harbor at the
crab plant so this was I think about
five of the big you know sections of
legs two pounds of crab it was I think
was like $15 a pound so that's about $30
of fresh crab meat and I'm just going to
add some of this fresh crab
to the top of the risotto I think we're
gonna have some crab sandwiches we're
gonna have crab this crab that for the
next while there we go
Bon Appetit
[Music]
[Applause]
short sweet butter
I'm not very tall anyway but to you that
way but as you know for me you no matter
where I go in the world
it's always about why we work so when
I'm in the House of Commons whether it's
in average of caucus or national caucus
it's all about talking about my hard
work so
all of that
just leaving
Mary's Harbor we enjoyed some excellent
days here they had a beautiful town and
a very nice for my fight and we managed
to arrive at the height of the season it
was crab fest so last night we saw the
crowning of king and queen crab and
enjoy fireworks and a crab smorgasbord
hundred different kinds of crowd
prepared in all these ways
everything from crab pizza - crab claws
anyway we're on our way to occasional
harbor up the coast post about
and trading on my steering here
not that easy though to make a good time
yeah we're going straight there
so where are we today we are in
occasional harbor we've got a fantastic
sail here yesterday from Mary's Harbor
downwind wing on wing virtually the
whole day a little bit of a beat into
the harbor the hills heat up the warm
air flows up so every Bay out flowing
air but at any rate we came in there
were two French boats here
Morgan's cloud with John and Phillips so
we're just wrapped it off of them and
we're about to go for some dingy
exploring
so
Phil Warner
five down
well they've got a generator going
today is Tuesday August 8 we have left
occasional harbor quite early this
morning about nine o'clock and we're
just heading towards lady arm which is
one of the few remaining inhabited of
ports and then probably stay there
tonight and on to squash Oh run
oh here comes an ATV
[Applause]
so we had a good run down from
occasional harbours across the st.
Michael's Bay yesterday we were going to
go through squash Oh run up to Cape one
day but we decided to duck into lady's
arms who had a nice overnight there at
the ferry boat dock there's still a
little part there and the ferry comes
once a week for the Charlottetown
fishing boats few dozen houses
and we're on our way up otter Bay
through the waivers and then up through
squash a run and that we're going to
follow some details from the CCA Prison
Club of America guide up indicate
kind of remote Anchorage so it's going
to be a nice day probably just motor
sailing or motoring up that way though
it's only about 20 miles
but incredible isn't it
sky was fun
so this is the squash over
it's nice the rains held up yeah making
this very pleasant yes sort of
forbidding but
I think that's the ledge yeah we're
anchored here in capelin Bay in this
nice little pool the great instruction
in the cruising Club of America guide
from sanity weld how to get in here and
it's it's very accurate
we saw least depth of 10 feet and coming
up through this uncharted unsounded
section of capelin Bay we came from
ladies arm through show run very
dramatic day with the huge black clouds
and but the the Sun has come out and
it's chased the black flies away so here
it is six o'clock and we're just getting
in the dinghy to run down it's I think
it's at least five miles down to the
head of the bay here there's another
whole section up at the top here it's
very title up there to explore so we'll
probably spend at least part of tomorrow
just looking around here in Cape
so we've left people in vain this
morning now the wind came up in the
night last night to about 10 or 15 and
the forecast was 10 or 15 when we've got
about 15 or 20 out here we're just going
up the punchbowl
it's not a far runner it's about a 20
mile run up from capelin it's a
difficult exit though from capelet their
Auto chart with very few sounding and
it's good and windy up here so we're
just coming up and we're going to just
turn up to wind into the wind to go off
our limits Frenchman's tickle into
Punchbowl Labrador
hello from the punchbowl Labrador we
came up yesterday from capelin Bay it
was kind of a quite windy and blowy we
had to look at shoal bay which is just
around the corner from here but it was
quite exposed and and not very welcoming
so we've we've come in and tied up to
the abandoned Marine Center Wharf here
in the punchbowl at one time there's a
substantial summer community here
there was a fish plant government
morphix Thatcher but now it's all
abandoned and kind of forlorn but it's a
very beautiful spot when the Sun comes
out it's absolutely amazing just
magnificent all around the bay here
so we just left Punchbowl this morning
it was kind of clear forecast his 10:15
possibly 20 knots from some portion of
south southeast southwest and rain and
we've got all of that right here so
we're just running around to Indian
tickle and there's two Anchorage's there
the each side depending on the wind so
there's a little shelter there it could
pick up it's going to be rainy Khloe
tomorrow and you know it's just a few
miles around but really sock did so I'm
trying my ski goggles to see if it'll
help protect my glasses from the raid
it's brighter anyway there's the captain
hello
bye so we're now snug in our little
Anchorage behind Roper Island an Indian
tickle quite snug the wind is piping in
here pretty nicely but we've got 200
feet of chain out and it looks like this
outside
blowing the study 20 southeast in is
forecast to build Northwest tomorrow but
we should find him got the furnace
running trying to dry out a lot of
things the Jane is making something for
us to eat oh good it's spaghetti nice
equipment
[Music]
yeah
we're plowing along in the fog here just
another eight miles or so into
Cartwright Labrador
we left this morning from India typical
it was completed for quite a while but
just as we turn to come into Huntington
brain and get quite foggy and now we
can't see a quarter mile we couldn't see
the last mark but we're almost to
Cartwright
and it's warm actually the rain is
really quite pleasant and were you able
to gather a little drinking water which
is nice fresh water
[Music]
all the Marines and there must be really
big
so what's for breakfast today it's
scrambled eggs
another blustery day out here don't
so this is Cartwright this is Curt right
we've arrived so you can hurt me see
across the bay power margin must be down
for the
[Music]
yes
[Music]
twenty dollars
so our bags are full you're all passed
down dear
okay just show us the technique that we
can learn and watch and learn
crab it's bringing a couple of pieces of
toast
[Music]
just because post is always good
beautiful sunny day today in Cartwright
and Labrador we had fog and heavy rain
and quite a bit of wind but this it's
lovely so we're going to spend a day
exploring specifically because what's
coming up from North Carolina South
Carolina the Caribbean area Hurricane
Gert is coming up the coast here in it
may spawn a secondary low which could
swirl a huge amount of this cold wet air
into it's warm wet air and cause high
high winds and lots and lots of rain so
we're gonna wait it out until we see
what what happens may be told Saturday
and then get going up to Grady Harvey
Harvard the old whaling station
for today we're just going to explore
our trade in Labrador
two paintings perfect spot tonight and
it's an exciting night
[Music]
