our mateys
you know I hear a lot of people talking
about teak and how hard it is to take
care of and you got to do this and you
go do that and now I don't have a lot of
teak on my boat mainly just these
handrails and I think I'm gonna redo
those now my boat neighbor Dan has a
little more teak and he was looking at
some stuff and searched some product out
found star Brite which makes you a
couple different t-coils a teak cleaner
and a teak Lightner and we tried that
and I'll tell you what that's something
it is so easy to use you only need one
or two coats of it you know after you
the hardest part of this whole process
is the prep work now my boat neighbor
behind me is working on his boat and he
has done a remarkable job of prep work
on this thing with taping it off I mean
that's an important part you know you
got to get get everything smooth get the
teak clean get it taped off you know
another great thing here - while you're
well you're working on your boat
especially if it's in the water you know
and you're sanding and you're scraping
old varnish off and that put little
piles of it together and vacuum it up
don't just throw it in the water
be a green boater - well anyway this
stuff here the star Brite it's so easy
to use now it's made to be used outside
use a foam brush and to apply it with
goes on really easy you'll see that a
little bit here in the video the UV rays
actually help it to cure or dry
and it doesn't have an oily feeling to
it when it's done and it seals
everything really nice the key here is
when you're when you open the can don't
don't shake it you're just going to get
a lot of air bubbles in it use a stick
get down there to the bottom get all the
solids stir that up nice so that when
you apply it in nice even coats the
other nice thing about this is it's not
going to turn black it's not going to
fade over time what you get is going to
last you for a long time well let's take
a look at and I'm going to let Dan talk
here for a minute on what he did and how
it turned out for him hello Dominic I
don't know if you remember when I got my
cockpit teak grates but it was about
three seasons ago and I used oil regular
ot oil on them and I wasn't happy they
were dirty they they weren't appealing
they just weren't that nice so I sanded
him and I put polyurethane on him and
that was a bad bad idea
they were so slick that it was unsafe in
the boat so now as you can see I've
sanded my teeth great and on this one
we've already applied the DAR bright
tropical marine teak oil sealer in the
life so I'm very satisfied with how this
one turned out it's got great color and
it feels filled so that it won't collect
dirt so I'm very happy with it now what
we're going to do is show you how easy
it is to apply
