Rob popped the question to Megan and asked her to marry him. The location was remote and we sailed our boat south through the John Muir inlet. ...

Oh
me to tell you
in the back
Oh
to file
for it
shaking in beautiful
you
well
right
my izmir bleacher dying a little guys
now
getting closer to it but Rob it's just
coming do you think the glacier was
right here when we were born get out I
want to say this little Valley right
there
so in the 19 1988 it was probably still
a Tidewater glacier calving this area in
this area so we're seeing all the little
plant life and everything that is just
as old as us
interesting to think about
John Muir glacier was once considered a
Tidewater glacier with a width of one
and a half miles at a height of over 250
feet
we drop the anchor at the approximate
location of the glacier in 1988 the year
we were born and took the dinghy in to
get a closer look at the glacier
it's amazing the places a sailboat can
take us the glacier has been in rapid
retreat for the past 127 years and
visitors who came to see the glacier
since it was first identified by John
Muir in 1889 could not imagine walking
on the ground that once held this
massive leisure
setting foot on the Glacial till was a
whole new experience it felt as if we
were walking on a different planet
surrounded by giant granite peaks in a
vast gray valley the only color we saw
was a glow of the Magnificent blue from
inside the crevices
we are extremely thankful for this
experience and grateful for the legacy
that John Muir has left without him we
would not have the National Park Service
to protect these areas all right we made
it to the boat hold up the anchor and
sell the way no engine just toss the jib
up and there's decent wind there so just
pick this up and turn right around and
yeah and tides just going out so you
have the wind and tide just ready to
push this out no problem um someone
close to shore but not too bad yeah hold
the dinghy which i hate we hate doing
especially at that engine on it yeah
it's definitely slows us down but we
figure we're gonna be using it tonight
so or tomorrow hopefully the Seas don't
get too choppy I think I can get too bad
they shouldn't that's when we don't have
the dinghy out that's just too crazy but
take a look at what we're leaving your
glacier there and we have a little
surprise for later okay
so talking more about Muir glacier and
that piece of ice right there all right
all right here we go
stay lean oh where are you doing not
motoring it's nice
my god
so route just proposed I did I thought
it was a joke but it's pretty cool um he
got a halo ring and I like how it pops
out but it's basically made of silicone
and it's stretchy and for all the
outdoor activities that we do it's gonna
just fit a lot better on my leg handin
so we're officially engaged now yep on
the ring are you gonna be able to focus
in on this yeah so it's a little compass
is what it is a little compass so small
yeah camera yeah yeah definitely fits
Megan's uh main style my style of things
just not getting in my way
yeah I figured if if I got her something
that was metal and a big giant diamond
ring it caught on everything the stone
we get lost it get broken
this ring is meant for BC sport and
outdoor active type people so
which is what we do yeah what we do she
can sail with it pulling the line she
can go climbing with it and go all the
way well over a year ago no but um yeah
we're engaged we're engaged
