today's a pretty big day we've got the
boat moving from the storage yard into
the production yard so they can get
started on stripping the bottom and
hopefully the master go in in the next
few days hopefully which is kind of
exciting that means stuff's gonna get
done
progress is always good but this is
actually kind of a big deal for a couple
of reasons first of all it's progress
but second of all we're not actually
doing the work on the bottom in 20 years
of owning a sailboat this will be the
first time that we're not doing the
bottom work
it's kind of fun
kind of excited about that is doing the
bottom it's a miserable job I'm just
dropping off at my mom's house
we have commandeered my mom's living
room and dining room so we can lay out
our sails we found a couple little I
guess
safe spots that need to be patched up
and repaired we know that actually have
a place to do this anymore so my mom is
lucky enough to be stuck well that's for
a couple of days other than the bottom
being done sails being worked on and the
mast going in we still have a lot of
other stuff to do
it's kind of amazing how much stuff has
to happen to take off we're getting
anxious to get on the water and start
making our way south heading to Mexico
it's been sort of frustrating just
having the boat in the boatyard for
months on end here we are time to get to
work
we've been having some rust issues of
appeal so we're having a yard to strip
detail down to bare metal epoxy coating
and I think the entire bottom anti
mountain
first step is to remove as much of the
old paint the pressure washer as
possible
or a next couple of days the yard will
tint off the entire bottom and start
grinding and prepping the keel for the
epoxy coating
other yards working on the bottom we're
trying to finish up some other
last-minute projects before we're back
in the water
Brenda's been busy finishing up the last
of our mosquito screens for our hatches
our new mast has a different sized sail
track and the old mast
Brenda's replacing all the sail slides
on our first that's usually the hardest
there's perfect-looking tailslide on the
twenty one more to go
while Brenda's working on the sale
slides I've been crawling around
underneath the floorboards swapping out
bulldozes pics in a couple of weeks
I really care who you are it's just
never easy drilling holes in your boat
part of my list of things to do is to
find a place to put all of our charts
since no one exactly know I'm gonna take
a right or a left when I get to Panama
we've got charts that will go all the
way through the Caribbean to the
Mediterranean as well as all the way out
the Pacific to Australia
I still haven't exactly figured out
where to put all these charts when
Brenda was replacing the sale slides she
noticed some chafing on the sales
so we've taken over my mom's house so we
can give the sales a good ol once-over
Brenda's putting on some patches and
reinforcements as well as Reese catching
our storm
well that's about it for this episode
we're hoping to be installing the mast
in the next couple of days
and then back in the water shortly after
that so until next time
