Join us for lunch in this week's sailing
ABC video. So take a seat for long lunch
musings in Moraira. Barry's brother Phil is
staying with us at the moment and he's
told us about a little port we haven't
been to that's got heaps of tapas
bars, so we're going to go there, in the
hire car while we've got it
and we're going to go for a little walk
and then have lunch. It's like a mini
Gibraltar look sticking up from the sea. At
roundabout take fifth exit. She's
confused. We can even have a ride on the
train. Yeah, Thomas the tank!
Thomas el tanko! Following my brother
Phil's advice, we did a quick recon of
Moraira to get our bearings and then
took the short drive over to El Portet
for a quick look around. Let's go hit the
town Baz. Yeah, it's gonna be banging on
a Sunday.
What are you doing here? Exploring! It's
pretty cool isn't it? I've been taking a
video that a sailing vessel. Yeah it
looks like he's had enough for the day
and he's going home. Yeah he's just put the sail down. Yeah.
It's a lovely place.
So we came to El Portet, which means the
little tiny port and it really is tiny,
just to have a quick look and see,
because it's good to look and see. But
now we're heading back to the main bit
and we're going to find a place to grab
a beer and have some tapas because
it's well after lunchtime. It's a really
nice little place, I imagine when it's
really sunny and you know a few more
people and some more of the bars are
open,
it'd be really lovely little place to
come. Yeah.
Cheers!
Cheers to you. So we've been here for
three months now and still haven't had a
crack at the paella, anyway it was on
the menu of the day today, but
unfortunately gazumped by the... It has to be a minimum of two people.
Yeah and because I haven't got my
antihistamine pill with me, I can't take
the chance on there being prawns in
there. Yeah because he gets
anaphylactic shock. Yeah really bad
reaction so if he knows he's having
prawns he has an antihistamine beforehand. Lives on the edge.
But we've ordered some other nice stuff
which should be coming soon. Yeah, it's
got a nice view. Lovely view. Nice toilets
this wins the toilets of the day, not
because it's the most beautiful,
but because there's a little baby toilet
in there. I took a video, You can get
arrested for that you know! And the
winner of today's competition for
toilets is this one because it's
got a little baby's toilet too look! I'm
hung up on toilets. Again you can
get arrested for that, George Michael did.
After 20 years of marriage I'm finding this out now! Hmm something not quite right
There. Look at this, so you've got the gaspacho.
It looks divine. And I've go the mixed fried fish. Hmm a little bit salty, quite salty,
but not anchovy salty. This is lovely,
it's chilled to perfection and it's got
these little really crunchy croutons and diced peppers and red onion.
This is a meal in itself. Right, I'll eat your main course when it comes.
You don't like ribs. Id give it a go,
take one for the team.
Right I'll let you know. Wherever you go
in Spain parking is a premium and even here in this town at the low season it's
just difficult to park and summer, I would
expect, would be a total nightmare. But
the council here are quite clever,
they've provided this free of charge car
park, that you can see behind me and it's
a great idea, because if you want to
attract tourists to your town, they need
somewhere to park and they like to park
for free. But there is a slight little
problem, because once a week they have
a market here and guess where the market is. Yep right there in the car park
and so my question is, when the market is on and you're not allowed to park here,
where do all the people who want to come to the market park their cars?
Alright let's have a look at this, part
two. So I got the spare ribs with
pineapple and veggies and looks like big
big wedges, look at the size of them! And
you've got lovely piece of fish yeah
with veggies hidden underneath yes and
more big wedges. Yes okay first things
first...
get into that sauce!
It's not what I was expecting.
It's kind of sweet and sour. Have a dip or
something, cut a bit of your wedge up and have a dip.
Need to lick my knife now.
If your mother could for you now! She'd be turning in her... Ashes.
Baz doesn't like walking generally for
pleasure, but he will for a decent
shot. What's this shot about Baz?
A roundabout. I think they do them very
well. Yeah decorating them. This is the
best one I've seen, yeah so I'm gonna show it to you.
These structures are huge, that octopus is about three meters tall, so it's
not a small work of art and it's very
intricate.
You're stopping me from eating now. Yeah that's a dangerous thing to do. So
for dessert, again all included in the menu of the day, we've chosen the
profiteroles, there was a selection of six
other things as well, but the profiteroles
do look quite tasty.
These seeds are, it's got like a
sugar coating. It's like a muesli. Yeah.
And the quest for paella will have to wait for another day. Yeah. Next on
the menu was a walk around Moraira to
help that big lunch go down.
That's a bit of a disappointment! I
expected to see some vast vista of
something and it's it's a work in
progress. Just a concrete slab that's
waiting to be something for summertime.
Disappointing coming around that corner
really, after that street. Yeah that's a
really nice street. and coming down the
steps I thinking, you know, what's gonna
be around the corner and boom...
Beyond that though, and I'm
sure when it's finished it'll be lovely, is the marina. Oh well, it doesn't
do to have expectations does it? No.
Hey baby I'm going your way, you going my way? Yeah. Climb aboard baby.
Ah there you are! No, there you are.
