the beast coincided with the oil
pressure warning light
coming on of course when we came to
anchor and we're just in tick over speed
the oil pressure warning light was on
constant and the beep was constant
so we've had a chat with uh jim on our
body boat acheron and we've
nailed it down to three possibilities
[Music]
so
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
we've escaped the confines of the marina
and cash we
are in kekova the plan was that we were
going to spend at least a week here
checking out
a lot of the anchorages and flying the
drone over them
and getting the depths and the holding
see what the bottom was made of and
just as we were coming into the gap at
keckover
there was a beep from the engine
instrument panel into me very intimate
beep
and then i stopped and watched and the
beef coincided with the oil
pressure warning light coming on just
for a second then it sort of came on
quite a lot more
permanently on it was just at that point
we were getting to
the stage where we are on our last 45
minutes of the trip
and that's when we put our engine up to
full revs to blow out all the
decent superpowers
so by putting the revs up to full which
is currently
2500 rpm uh the
oil pressure warning kind of almost
disappeared
just we were sort of thinking oh let's
fix the problem whatever it was
and then of course it was a little beep
and then of course when we came to
anchor and we're just in tick over speed
the oil pressure
warning lights are constant and the beep
was constant
[Music]
so we've had a chat with uh jim on our
body boat acheron and we've
nailed it down to three possibilities it
could be
a blocked oil filter which is
possible but not likely because i just
put a new oil filter on
six weeks ago so it's not likely to be
that
it could be the oil pressure sensor
which is blocked and needs cleaning that
is a strong possibility
that easy to mix if i can find it
and the other thing is it could be the
oil
pump itself which is probably a
mechanical pump
and again i don't know where that is on
the engine so
look we're just going to enjoy the
sunset tonight we're going to
chill out and relax and then tomorrow i
gotta start troubleshooting
yeah right now though sun's going down
you know what that means sunday at a
time
we're just gonna not worry about it
because we can't do anything about it
now we're just gonna
we're safely anchored yeah engine's off
beautiful bay
and look you've got something else to
look forward to
we're going to change the name from
sailing abc to repairing abc
you fixed it buzz yeah slightly
embarrassing to admit this but when i
dipsticked the oil this morning
it was below the minimum mark on the
dipstick
which is odd because when i dip stick
the oil yesterday
it was right at the top mark on the
dipstick the thing is
i can't remember yesterday because we're
in a bit of a hurry when i pulled the
dipstick out
and it showed that the oil was just
below the top notch
on the dipstick i can't remember whether
i wiped it clean and did a second dip
so that oil on the dipstick might have
been a memory
of when we were crossing from greece but
that still begs the question
where's all that oil gone because it's
not in a bilge and it doesn't appear to
be blowing out of the exhaust
so anyway i've just put oil in uh it's
almost up to the top notch
on the dipstick now fired up the engine
and the
low oil warning light or oil pressure
warning light
has now gone off it's it's functioning
normally
so an easy fix and lesson learned always
wipe the dipstick
and do a second dip otherwise who's the
dipstick
right now we can get on with enjoying
our day and our time here
in kickover thanks it's that time of the
month again
for our 10 and up patrons postcard time
i'm hand delivering this one to jim
because he's actually
just over there in that boat so i'm
going to
double bag it into some ziploc bags so
that it doesn't get wet
and i'll just go and swim over
special delivery gym oh wow thank you
very much
come aboard thank you well it's not like
in scotland where
the postie's a bit different here where
have we got
this to you officially okay all right
thank you oh fantastic i'm gonna stick
that on my fridge
cool thank you welcome
we've spent two nights here in this
first anchorage at kekova
in turkey and it is time to move on
we're going
three and a half miles further down
kick over and we're going in to the
inside bay and i think we're staying
there for one night
yeah um i think this is sidjak
[Applause]
um so it's uh around about lunchtime
we're gonna move on
three and a half miles shouldn't take
too long there's a bit of a breeze
and it's kind of like hopefully gonna
allow our
head sail to fill yeah uh if not then
we've got an engine
so yeah and tonight we're dying tonight
we ride for york
no what is it landlord
more ale for tonight
actually we're going to hassan's
restaurant tonight so
kind of similar there will be ale and
fish
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
so
oh that took ages didn't it do you know
the longest
hop we've ever done i didn't even look
at what time we left and what time no i
didn't know it was about half an hour
maybe half an hour
yeah fairly straightforward coming in
follow the channel markers and
the chart says something different from
what the channel marcus says
so probably best to follow the channel
markers but yeah here we are
in the yeah is ucha's and um
we are in 4.4 meters
the anchor is in mud yep and we've got
30 meters of channel yes and we've got a
great view
of the fort we'll be going up there
later
yay but i've got to finish my editing
first yeah
my lunch is editing i am going to take
the
rubbish ashore looking down there
because that's where it is
that's where the rubbish is here and
dispose of the
recyclables and drop off all the smelly
things that are
starting to smell in the heat and maybe
top up the oil if it needs it
i'll check the oil in the morning just
let it cool down and uh
check the oil first thing in the morning
but yeah that's uh that's the situation
we're actually
losing oil because we're burning oil
so i'm going to do some research on that
see what we can do
and i'm also going to put that engine
cleaning
fluid into the fuel tank and let that
clean the engine
okay yep try anything right now and just
over there is the main town where i'm
going to thinking over to dispose of the
recyclables and rubbish and i'm also
going to talk to hassan
before tonight in his fish restaurant
this is a world-renowned fish restaurant
are you her son's daughter yes oh thank
you for the pears
we just had the best meal here at
hassan's restaurant
and you saw us come in you've met hassan
and now this is his beautiful restaurant
and look at all these fabulous photos of
all the different people that have
visited
look at this here it's all
fresh fish look at this
those beautiful daughters hello
it's a beautiful calm hot and humid
morning even though it's only about
eight o'clock and we're going to
go on a walk up to the fort today but
first of all we're going to pick up our
friend kevin morning kevin
that's a real deal for that one isn't it
this boat didn't make it out beta
testing it just ended up here
all right look at this high-tech stuff
lovely do you want me to go
[Music]
first
[Music]
so the word on the street is we follow
this road
until it gets to a dog leg up there
and then eventually we end up at the
castle
[Music]
that's the boatyard where we parked our
dinghy walked along the road and came up
here
clambered up the hillside and we are met
with heaps and heaps of lysene tombs on
the hillside
and just for scale there's kev
look at the size of that tomb
next we conquer the castle
[Music]
well murray this certainly isn't the
oldest we've seen but it's certainly
very fascinating
and whoever was stationed at the fort or
the castle
um had entertainment because this is a
little mini amphitheater
i just love the way they've carved the
steps out of the rock as well so people
can climb up to the top
it's an inside joke what's the episode
that i've got in the top corner of the
screen right now
and looking down into the bay right
there
is abc
[Music]
behind me is the beautiful setter marina
in cash
and our boat is quite happily ensconced
there now we have had a few trips out as
you
have seen in this video and we've got
lots more to come now just before we end
this video we'd like to say a big
welcome aboard to our latest patrons
