In this episode of Sailing A B Sea we let go of the mooring ball at Karacaören and move to Gemiler. Should we take a line ashore or anchor?

here we are in carragher and restaurants
and this is not the barbecue pit
this is the remnants of the barbecue pit
and this
ingenious little contraption is too
[Music]
i'm barry i'm ann sher this is the
continuing journey of sailing abc
it's taxi time and there is jam
and there's anchor it's a great service
it is a good service
yep that's definitely your steak burning
not mine no
no
ah what you say bye
[Music]
come aboard kevlar your taxiways
i just love this place it's just
such an eclectic fabulous
place
some wood fire
look at all the veggies
not too far to come for dinner it's a
trip home that kills you
looks like a full moon rising above the
mountains there
and this mountain here turkish flag on
the top of the pale
section just to the left of that there's
a little flat section on the top
and that's where the paragliders jump
off the mountain
in fact there's one just above the
mountain right now
doing a last minute fly or glide
hello buzz what brings you to an exotic
place like this
hunger the sun sets the moon rises
and here we are we've just devoured our
um
starters message and then bread and
salad and chips
i've been served up my meatballs and
meatballs
and um kevin and about to get chops
smells smells good too right chaps
vegetarians chocks away no vegetarians
allowed
that's what you get none of that does
anybody want wine
well i've got the wine yeah here we are
in carrijara and restaurants and
um this is not the barbecue pit this is
the
remnants of the barbecue pit and this
ingenious little contraption is to
keep the mozzies at bay and it works
smells good because the wood smells
great when it's burning
and it fills the place full of smoke and
all the mozzies
disappear they've gone because they were
all around
like it was just when we were doing this
and we had to ask for this
and then they came with that and all the
mozzies have gone organs
we might say that on the boat later yeah
it's brilliant it works
[Music]
whoops
all right we'll see you tomorrow take it
easy
[Music]
so what does morning look like on board
abc
from the perspective of the pillow in
the princess suite
[Music]
breakfast over and done with loot break
at the restaurant over and done with and
now kevin and i
are going out scouting to see just how
much room there is
at the gemler line ashore anchorage
might as well check that out and she's
still on board abc
she's editing the next video or putting
the final touches to the next video
so we're gonna have a boys day out
are we kev i hope so
[Music]
all right
[Applause]
i just want to have a look at what uh
sort of depth we've gotten
see that's going to be familiar yeah
yeah yeah you've got to get it just
right um yeah
and it look how deep how swiftly it goes
down deep
looks like we're going to be grabbing
all the rocks as well instead of sand
yeah it's daunting
i guess you just have to choose your
spot wouldn't you
this is deep enough um i do believe
that um there's a punch
i'll show you when we get on i've got
further to show you
and we can just ding it over here
morning it's wednesday we are at
carriage aaron at the moment we've
just been round to uh gamla bay
up in the dinghy and there's nobody
there
free swinging on anchor which is what
we've had a chat with kev with and
that's what our plan is yeah so we're
just gonna head around there yeah we're
gonna
get off the boy here took the rounds
drop anchor and then i'll go over
to kev's boat and help drop his anchor
because he's a solo sailor
he is let's do what we need to do
i do need electronics
yeah i've not had a coffee yet that's
how early it is
right i'll go and i've got the pointy
engine in my phone
yeah ready when you are
um
[Music]
we received an email the other day from
oh
forget your name a guy who's just bought
himself a gory folding prop in his sis
he's very happy with it
and just following on from what uh we
discussed about the gory folding prop
about two or three videos back we are
currently
in overdrive with the prop and uh i'll
show you the revs
and i'll show you our speed over ground
so that's 1800 reps
and our current speed over ground is 7.2
knots
so you can't really complain to that of
course this c-state is exactly
what the overdrive feature was built for
if you get big waves and swell and wind
against you then
deploying the overdrive feature is not
recommended
our speed over ground is 7.3 knots
probably could be a tad more if we
didn't have drag
from towing our dinghy we don't normally
tow the dinghy but we're literally
going five minutes around the corner so
we don't mind here
okay drop it go to 30.
[Music]
okay
[Music]
okay
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
you have arrived look at that view
that's a million dollar view there isn't
it look at the color of the water in the
rocks
and the first thing that any good sailor
does when they actually
take a dinghy ashore they also take
their rubbish ashore
and find the bins
that's that job done now let's find a
bar
two priorities
that's not how you spell fs
yeah only too much here but that's okay
it's still cold it's still beer
and we've still got a fabulous view
[Applause]
the lady speaks english so that's good
if you don't speak any turkish
[Applause]
slowly but surely life is returning to
normal
at least here in some of the tourist
spots in turkey
looking at abc from this angle you just
see how
wide her beam is she's got a big fat
up that over there is gimmel island
itself and a lot of the boats
come and take a line ashore there it's
very very deep in that water
and we decided that it'd be just a lot
easier for us to
drop our anchors here in about eight
meters of water
in sand and we can just dingy
over to the island tomorrow morning when
it's a lot cooler
and start our climb up to the top it's
so very different here
than it was when we first arrived and
dropped anchor here about
six weeks ago maybe eight weeks ago now
there's so much
traffic with the tourist boats and ringo
boats as they call them
it's even here we've still got local
fishermen boats a little water sport
area
and their designated void off area and
then beyond that the swimming sort of
touristy area
and then us hang it out here
and then of course an even better view
and we see the boats in particular the
touristy boats all finishing up for the
day at gimella
and heading back to wherever they came
from
oh such strong fellows if you all get in
i'll hold and push
[Applause]
start straight away okay baz
[Applause]
we're not gonna play now oh yeah
are you doing there buzz
i'm losing me i'm using my cakes
flashing my ass all over the place
man votes about enough
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
then
right kevlar all right
all right all right catch you later all
right yeah
oh it's a nice afternoon
[Applause]
[Applause]
