In this episode of Sailing A B Sea we show you what we found after 11 months of A B Sea being in the water. There's growth where there shouldn't be, but there's also good news too.
Take a look at what we found after 11 months as Baz scuba dives underneath A B Sea.

what are all these guys doing looking
down there they're
actually looking for baz
because he's on a rescue mission
[Music]
i'm barry i'm anchor this is the
continuing journey of sailing abc
what are you doing best we arrived here
in cash marina august 1st
of uh last year so 2020. it's now the
end of
may 2021 so that means it's been nine
months
since i've had a look at what's going on
underneath the water line of abc
now as you know when we came from greece
to turkey we had the issue with the
fizzing prop at nodes and the third
anode that we put on when we got here
seemed to stop fizzing and i haven't
looked at it for nine months i'm hoping
that my worst
nightmares are not met i'm hoping that
i'll just go down there and go
and that's good and it's good i know
it's good and it's good
all good and come back up and that will
be it
[Applause]
which way is it gonna go eh
now you're gonna get down there scuba of
course it's the only way to go
and if you remember when we were doing
the anti-fel i did an experiment on the
prop
blades and i did two of the prop blades
with the anti-fel and i did one prop
blade
with about six or seven coats of egg
white because somebody
said that it worked really well so bass
is also going to film that and we'll
have a look and see
if there's any difference and which
one's better things i'm going to be
checking while i'm down there
are the bow thruster anode the keel
anode
the prop shaft anode the prop anode
and i'm also going to be taking a look
at the bottom of the rudder where we
scraped off a bit of the antifoul when
we went stern to induction
um also be good to see what sort of
growth we've got
while she's been doing what she's been
doing for the last nine months
that's a little bit fresh come on it's
24.
[Music]
so
so
[Music]
[Music]
uh
[Music]
how's it looking it's actually looking
quite good there's a lot of growth on
the uh
the bow thruster uh
housing the bolt that holds the keel
anode on is
quite rusted on the surface which is a
bit odd because that was the original
keel belt and it didn't rust
the first couple of years so i don't
know what's going on there
the prop anode is still there
still in good condition the prop shaft
anode is is still there and still in
good condition
um i've just got to do a little bit of
cleaning the damage to the rudder
well it's it's going to need a repair
but it can wait until we get hauled out
so all in all apart from
uh a bit of cleaning
i'm quite happy with what i can see okay
so with the rudder does that mean
there's water getting into it no
oh okay it's just the very very tip
right
um and did you notice any difference on
the um
propeller with the egg white versus the
anti-flower no you you can't tell the
difference between which blade is which
they are all equally uh
badly coated so a good cleanup
will put us in good stead for heading
out
on monday okay good if you could hand me
the
uh scrapers just give me the
plastic one to start with
i'm gonna need the metal one for the uh
the prop itself also had a look at the
hull and uh keel joint that we
sealed oh yeah absolutely perfect
great yeah that's good to know it is
that's a slit not put that around your
wrist right
make this prop go faster okay what are
all these guys doing
looking down there they're actually
looking
for bars because he's
on a rescue mission
fish gun that's a fish attracting light
this is the big fish hunter here
the bottom's really muddy here oh okay
so it might not be that easy to find yes
it's the last one
yeah about a meter from the bottom
yeah you went to a stage where it was uh
cloudy then yeah so it went clear oh
okay
so is he is he doing a sort of like
logical grid pattern thing
i think he's just bobbing about slowly
slowly
oh that might be
surprising because it can drop it here
but time it hits the bottom
man of the moment
oh and glasses as well
[Laughter]
perfect
all right job done
thank you very much thank you
well i'm going to call that a successful
mission the
bow thruster growth is annoying
but it's not really going to stop the
functionality of the bow thruster
the blades themselves are quite clean
the
keel and hull joint that we repaired is
in
pristine perfect condition looking
really good so i'm pleased
so pleased about that the anodes all
round
are looking pretty good um usual
wastage that i would expect after 11
months in the water so i'm quite happy
with that
not so happy with the anti-fel that we
sprayed
onto the prop shaft and the prop
disappointed is being kind
so we won't be using that product again
in fact i think we've got that as one of
our
products that we recommend for our
amazon associate links
and i'm going to remove that product
from those links
because really i can't in all honesty
recommend it for you guys to use
so now i've cleaned up the prop and the
prop shaft
and got rid of all that growth i'm
reckoning when we leave here on monday
we're going to get an extra knot of
speed at the very least
so that's a good thing and as long as we
keep that propeller going round
the little biggers can't attach and grow
on it can they
i'm going to put my gear away now and
i'm also going to have a beer because i
think i deserved one
good morning peoples morning we are
going over to gimella island today
uh it's about what 8 30 something like
that probably nine
nine probably left it a bit late it's
getting warm already it's getting warm
we're going to climb to the top
apparently loads of stuff to see there
and um we're going to take the drone
don't tell anyone
right so we're going to uh collect i'll
make kev yep he's over here on barbara
anne
and we're gonna head over to the island
and we're gonna explore you can come
with us if you want
gotta give your ball a good squeeze
until it goes rock hard
that fixed that didn't it useful little
tip for you ladies there
[Music]
[Applause]
morning
[Music]
morning kevlar all right
brewing's already looked all down the
side maybe there were fisherman's hooks
or something
[Music]
excellent
so people first moved in here in the
early byzantine
period including saint nicholas or santa
claus
[Music]
wow that is impressive
[Music]
definitely an upmarket church
we have a sign
[Music]
and here's where it finishes with a
dome ceiling nice little arch
and a way out look at this view
it's a pity it's just such a hot hazy
day on a clear
winter's day this would just be overly
spectacular
in here it's quite a few serious
bits of ancient stuff just look at this
mosaic on the floor here
it looks like two antelope because
they've got two horns on the back
all chewing on the leaves of a tree this
here
not sure what that would be it's got a
very short tail it's got claws it could
be the representation of a bear
and again it looks like it's eating
something that's shaped like a pear
from a tree onwards
[Music]
that one on the right is abc
having a morning nap while no one's
aboard
it's what she does
and here we are at the peak of the other
end of the island
and this is the view from here
number one sun oh yes there's my
favorite
there's my favorite son
australia yes
what are you doing luke oh we're just
heading over to
my theater because i'm doing the last of
uh three performances there tonight well
it's no good saying break your leg
because you've already uh
broken your leg and it's been a success
so far isn't it that's it well as
the australians say it's truckers
chokers right
it's a new one me yeah
we're going to climb downhill now get
back to the boat and have a swim with
you you might fall down but you never
know
not me i'm a gazelle yeah he's the
gazelle oh yeah actually it's mum we've
seen
all right speak to you soon
well that is very well worth visiting
yeah pretty good i'm sweaty and ready
for a swim now
yes kev's having a drink of water
home james
[Music]
