In this episode of Sailing A B Sea we show you around the super protected Turkish anchorage of Serce Limani (north) and when we move to a new anchorage the following day we spend just a little time there and we now know why it's not a marked anchorage.

Just coming up to one o'clock in the afternoon
and we've discovered why this is not marked as an anchorage
I'm Barry, I'm Aannsha, this is the continuing journey of Sailing A B Sea
We'll tell you soon why that bay at Bozburun isn't an authorised anchorage but let's return
to Serce Limani where we left you last week. Join us as we check out the secluded bay
Welcome to Captain Nemo's Farm Restaurant arrghhh
Merhaba. We've come for a beer. You like beer, you like walking
Well we've just had calamari, french fries what was that you had? Eggplant and zucchini
so aubergine and courgette with yogurt ... fried in garlic with yogurt on the top yum and
a couple of beers glass of wine. Very large glass of wine. Hang on
I've just got... I just got side tracked here. Look at this little fella
Oh sweetie tweety. It's not even old enough to be a pullet. No it doesn't know what it is
There's another one here. So we're just going to wander down the road outside the restaurant
yeah - down to the little place where the fishing boats tie up and just how it look-see
there's nothing here that's touristy, it's just a little Turkish spot where you can come
and enjoy the delights, tie your yacht back to the restaurant jetty
Our dinghy's on the other side of the jetty there that's the restaurant, lots and lots
of Aussie gum trees in there that they planted. Apparently the guy's been there for 50 years and
that's what he does in this little spot. And then there's a few fishing boats here. It's just very
beautiful, it's very simple and... Simple and picturesque. Yeah. I think this guy's got
trees growing on his boat. What's that all about? Shade. Shade okay
That's A B Sea on a mooring ball. So the goatses that we can hear is this big fella up on
the top of the mountain standing on the edge of course as goatses do
There's a buoy there as well
Oh perfect for tying a line ashore, there's like rocks and rocks and rocks as far as the eye can
see, perfect. And um it's fairly sandy most of the way, there are a few rocks but not sort of
real big boulders that you'd necessarily have to worry about um as you came back to the shore
And goats. Gotta love those goats
Here she is
As the sun goes down over here we can see smoke from a wildfire that's burning
and they've just started, the helicopters have started coming over with the water bombing
this is the third one that's come across and there's another one just over there
which has already dropped its load um so they're gonna hopefully get that fire under control. So
we'll put some information in the description if anybody would like to donate to Turkey or Greece
to help them to fight these fires and to help the communities rebuild after the fires. Yep
Morning! Morning. It's Friday not that that means anything, I'm just telling you what day it is
Yeah, somebody asked that yesterday on a an older video didn't they?
Does 9.30 on a Sunday mean anything to you? Yeah, the answer's not particularly - No - In fact
some days we have to look at the phone or the computer and go what day is it?
But we know it's Friday today - yeah - we do definitely do. I do because he just said so!
Just a little hop today um it's only going to be a little over two hours which is fabulous darling
Yeah we like short hops. We're heading up to the uh Bozburun area and we're gonna meet up with Kev on
his boat Barbara Ann so yeah just an early start so we get there early so we can just sit around
and write blogs in the afternoon. Yeah yay! But I'm going to make coffee on the go so that will
be fun if it's wavy. I don't think there'll be anything this morning. It's been so flat in here but you can't really tell until you're out
can you? No but this this is uh very nice. Anyway definitely recommend this anchorage if you are
in the vicinity and you want something well protected and nice and peaceful and quiet
Okay let's fire up the old iron sail. Again. Again Yesterday do you know what? We could have sailed
The wind was perfect - actually sailed in any direction. Except for the one we wanted to go. The
wind was perfect. I mean we could have had - yeah - both sails fully out
and it would have been great but... Anyway you never know there might be something out there today
We're going up past Symi again today, the Greek island of Symi so we usually get a
bit of wind there fingers crossed we get enough wind we get the sails out . Yeah. Okay let's do it
Today's boat job is to stitch this back on. Oh yeah that got damaged at Bozukkale when we were side
on. Yeah and it was really... A bit bouncy. Yeah and it got caught on the wooden jetty. So I'll fix that today
Right so wind's that way
presumably the ball's gonna be on this side so I'm gonna bring her nose around
Looks like it's been attacked by a rabbid dog
Just about to round the tip of the
light marker to the west of Bozukkale and then we'll start heading north
and hopefully we should get this wind coming from this direction and there should be enough of it
Kind of wouldn't know would you? You wouldn't know. So this kind of like bobbly surface area is it's quite good
so if you do get tears it's easy to fix and you know nobody's going to go "Ew look at that, that's awful!"
Looks fabulous darling. Oh thank you! Yes. Oh the quirkiness of the wind! This is the apparent wind
it's at 4.9 knots. Now when we were heading along the bottom of this bit of land here it showed us
that the wind was coming from this direction but now the the wind is apparently coming from
behind and uh as you can see there's not a lot of it because the wind direction indicator at
the top of the mast is just bouncing from side to side. The spot that we're hoping to anchor
in is around about 45 minutes up there pretty much aiming straight at it right now
but this is the Bozburun area and it's quite majestic in this morning light
There's the Admiral reading her book
We're actually going to be exploring quite a lot of this area and um even behind the Bozburun
peninsula that's ahead of us uh there's plenty more anchorages that we're going to check out too
we'll be in this area for quite some time. This is our proposed anchorage
that was going to be our plan B but there's already a gullet tied up in there and uh
if that doesn't work out then we're going to come all the way around the bottom of this place, come
back up here and apparently there's a bloke who takes your line ashore for you there if you hand
him a few Lira. Still no wind, apparent wind is 3.9 knots, speed over ground is 7.5, because we're
in overdrive and we are doing 1900 rpm. Got to make the most of that Gory folding prop overdrive
feature when you can and today's conditions are when you can moment.
Take the hook off
Okay so we're going to be dropping in six
so go to 30.
What are we over? Sand with a bit of weed
All right drop it.
Well we have arrived and uh we dropped anchor in six metres I think it was? Yeah six metres sand and
weedy patches but that's okay we found a big sand patch and the anchor definitely found the sand patch
It just went boof! I went
yeah we're in! Yeah now we don't know yet why this is not marked as an anchorage on the chart
or in Navily or anywhere else that we look. It doesn't seem to be a
restricted area there's nothing on the charts that says anything about that
and um... My only thought is is that it's quite a big bay and it's very exposed. It is. So if the weather's
unfavourable you know you may get roll, you may get lots of fetch, so that might be why. Maybe. We're not
expecting a lot of wind it might pick up to um 12 to 15 knots later this afternoon then it's gonna
drop off again for the evening so. We'll see. We'll see, we'll see how it feels and we can always move
from here quite easily into protected anchorage. Yeah. But I like this. It's nice for now. This is nice
Yeah. We did watch a 42 footer actually go through that gap there so we know that that's deep enough
for him it'll be deep enough for us as well should we need to move from here if it gets too rolly
uh we can just go through that gap there around the corner and tie back ashore
Just coming up to one o'clock in the afternoon and we've discovered why this
as an anchorage. As we suspected the wind does pick up and the openness of the bay produces a lot of
fetch it's not uncomfortable but it's... Not nice! It's not nice, no. The thing is there's only um
15 knots of true wind but because of the distance the wind and water is travelling it creates
a bit of bounce so we're going to go through that gap there and
we're going to find a place that is sheltered from the the wind generally
There goes Kev and Ruth on Barbara Ann. They're going through the gap and then once
this big fellow's through the gap we can quite happily bring our anchor up and follow along
Thirty
Good morning peeps it's Saturday morning and we've just put the latest video out to
our subscribers on YouTube, answered a few early questions, got all that sorted out
um right now we are anchored in a different spot in the Bozburun area and behind me is the main
Bozburun area and the mission today is to drop our dinghy and we're going to tow our mate Kev's
dinghy across to the harbour at Bozburun because he's got a problem with his outboard
engine and uh there's a guy there who's going to hopefully fix it for him so uh a little bit of a
tow and while we're over there we're going to go to Osman's Place. We were there when we first
came into Turkey and checked into Turkey in Bozburun in 2018 and we just recall that the full English
breakfast was so good so while they're over there we might as well have a full English breakfast
come with us. Before we sign off on this week's video we'd just like to welcome on board our
two newest patrons and they are Graham Smith and Ted Johnson, welcome aboard guys and thank
you very much for joining our Patreon family and helping to make this journey of ours sustainable
And as a viewer if you have enjoyed what we've been doing on board Sailing A B Sea, then please give
us a thumbs up it really does help us out more than you can imagine. We'll catch you next week
