In this episode of Sailing A B Sea we are back at Osman's Place for Bozburun's best breakfast and we have fun getting onto a mooring ball in 25 knots of wind at Sailors Paradise.

The mission today is to drop our dinghy and we're going to tow our mate's Kev's dinghy
across to the harbour at Bosburun because he's got a problem with his outboard engine
I'm Barry, I'm Aannsha, this is the continuing journey of Sailing A B Sea
Do you want to go in there? That's where you went? Yeah
Oh wow
Osman's Place otherwise known as Gordon Restaurant in Bozburun. If you want any help with
how to get things fixed then come and see Osman and his lovely wife Lyn. They
can give you advice on everything from A to Z. They also have some really good food
and it's very very affordable. The English breakfast is highly recommended. Breakfast arrives
Thank you!
And as we said in our previous video when we were here in 2018
they know how to do English breakfast because they've got HP sauce. And tea, look!
Also when you do frequent their establishment, they have toilet and shower facilities that you
can quite freely use and I'm just about to go and show you where they are right now
They've just spent the winter and the uh general sort of like covid lockdown refurbishing the
place and it's looking absolutely fantastic. This is just a little selection of their mezes and
some of the main courses but around behind here you'll find the toilet area
Ladies toilet, gents toilet, one shower and two showers. In the overall scheme of things the
harbour area here at Bozburun is um it's small I think but it's perfectly formed. You've got to
drop your anchor here and then just reverse onto the quayside, the harbour side. Someone will always
be around to take your lines and then you just tighten up your chain but the great thing is it's
probably around about from memory only about five metres deep in here so you don't need a
lot of chain out which is great. All right mission accomplished we've had our full English breakfast
Kev's dinghy outboard has gone off to the doctors to be probed and poked
and tweaked. We've had a walk around town we've been into the supermarket and got our supplies
because tomorrow's lockdown so it's time to get back into dinghy and head back to the anchorage
and have a swim. Yay!
Looks like we're going to have a nice day today. Well it is summer - yeah - we're actually just going
around the corner in the dinghy back to the anchorage we first stopped at because basically
we just want to check it out with our masks and snorkels and do some filming around there
All right let's load this baby up and see how slow we can go. Let's go!
Feet got a little wet on the way over. The problem is that the chaps
um the way the water comes from the propeller and the fins it actually gets underneath the chaps
and can't find its way out backwards and some of it finds its way under here and comes down
here and hence we get a swimming pool inside the dingy. We'll try and figure something out
Anyway we have arrived. The admiral is just going to secure the ship
Wednesday morning. It's about half eight now and we're leaving Bozburun. Today's journey is going
to be huge. Not really it's two hours, two hours maybe three hours if we double back on ourselves
we've got a planned anchorage and it's a nice sandy bottom quite shallow so we can drop the
hook and swing freely. Unless of course everybody else has thought of that plan in which case we've
got to sort of like double back on ourselves an hour and go and tie up at a restaurant jetty
We'll see how it goes when we get there
["Sings"] And we are sailing, we are sailing... No that's not going in. No. Don't do the piano singer
[Both laugh!]
Okay well of course, the wind's dropped to 15 knots. Yeah I was just going to say, you get the sails out and the wind
goes from 22 to 15 to 14. but we're still doing 5.6. Yeah. I mean you know it's a big head sail
We've just tacked and we're doing 3.8 knots
and our first choice of bays is just around that rock there
before the trees. So we're going to look in here first this bay but it looks quite busy already
Got the flag behind you letting you know where the wind's coming from Baz. That's what it's all about. Yeah
4.3 knots speed over ground with 11 knots of wind
That one was chock-a-block so we're going to come around into this bay here
which also looks really busy and
see what we can see here. This place was another choice but it's either too shallow
or it's too deep or there are boats where we would go so we're going to leave this one as well
Two hours he said. Two hours he said. We arrived at thirteen thirty so we left at nine
ten eleven twelve. Four and a half hours! But you know we've had... we've had lots
of different kinds of weather. We have. And lots of different kinds of sailing styles
So we've come to the little restaurant jetty area where our mate Kev's on the jetty but we
can't go on the jetty because it's already booked out um so they had one of their mooring balls
available. [Snapping noise]. That's just the the lines slipping... Yeah that's... No no it's just jumped out it's
just jumped over the toe rail. Oh okay. So it was quite interesting approaching the mooring ball in
twenty ... It's 17 now but yeah it was about 22 knots. Twenty odd - 25 - knots of wind.
Yeah gusting. And um there's a boat right next to us, I'll show you in a second. But but I had
because so far when we've done mooring buoys um we knew that the fella was going to help us
but when that's... when we've had assistance before we've always used our own lines so I had
a line already attached waiting to give to him to you know take around, put on the other cleat
um but he was holding one up and I'm like oh okay so I took mine off
and originally I tried to get it through the fairlead because - That's what we do - that's what
we do but then that became very apparent very quickly that the line was too short and I'm thinking
oh okay. So we abandoned that. Of course at this point the boat is now stationary so I have no
control over the boat at all. No. So we we we I just backed out because otherwise we were
likely to hit this boat next to it so I went that's just not good go back out and try again
uh second time lucky. Yeah second time so I went sorry. So second time the guy picked up the line
again and I just took it straight to the cleat because that was the only option and I've got my
hand done then I'm going "catch it, catch it, catch it" because I didn't want to go through it again
anyway I caught it and I whipped it around that cleat like a pro ... sailing pro... um and then and then
he brought a shoreline - yeah - to our aft cleat which is kind of good otherwise we'd be smacking into
the boat next door. Yes so it's actually quite a good little system um so if you come to Kokabahce
Koyu, uh be prepared to take his lines and do it that way. Yeah and hopefully you'll be
doing it in less wind!
