uh it was called Long Lunch Musings in Moreira and that's where Aannsha revealed to me afterΒ Β

many years of marriage that she had a toiletΒ fetish. We've just arrived in Kusadasi marinaΒ Β

and I'm the first one to use the toilet and showerΒ facilities and I can tell you that any fantasiesΒ Β

and fetishes that Aannsha may have about toiletsΒ when she sees this lot she's gonna have her mind blown!

I'm Barry, I'm Aannsha, this is theΒ continuing journey of Sailing A B Sea

It's Aannsha's fourth birthday on boardΒ A B Sea. First one was in Formentera in Spain

yep Spanish Balearic Islands. Second one was MilosΒ island in Greece. Third one was Datca in Turkey

Fourth one we're still in Turkey - yepΒ - but this time we are in Kusadasi - yeah andΒ Β

gotta tell you... this marina is fabulous. AbsolutelyΒ brilliant. They brought a birthday cake to the boatΒ Β

I was in the shower so I missed it. It's justΒ so good. They're so kind. So we're going to a local restaurantΒ Β

uh which is part of the marina complex and itΒ overlooks the sea it's beautiful it's reallyΒ Β

nice so we're booked in there and we've alsoΒ got a little marina shuttle yes uh to take us toΒ Β

yeah there because it's it's quiteΒ a long walk from this monsoon

And, have you noticed I'm taller today, I'm the same height? It's because I've got high heeled shoes on!

Oh she's swanky

It's such a beautiful marina. Great

We're gonna have a fight with the truck nowΒ Β hahaha

Let me just quickly tell you that uh Kusadasi marina is in the phase of expansion. They'reΒ Β

building new pontoons, they're dredgingΒ out uh deeper depths and this truck here

is part of the system where they're layingΒ out the anchor points for the new pontoonsΒ Β

and there's a big dredging machine andΒ new cartoons uh happening right nowΒ Β

That's the first brand new pontoon going in

and that's the big dredger and hereΒ we are at the entrance to the marina

yes welcome.

Too many choices, oh my god!

How did the hairspray last? Because

it was blowing the hot gale out there wasn't it? It is hot weΒ actually experiencing a bit of a heat wave throughΒ Β

this area at the moment uh covering the whole ofΒ Greece and most of Turkey. Well it was 38 degreesΒ Β

yesterday - yeah - and the wind is hot. Yeah they areΒ expecting in some parts the temperature to go upΒ Β

to 44 degrees. We'll be in the pool that day! Yeah.Β Right now we are here at the Terazza restaurantΒ Β

Got a bottle of red one ordered um thanks to Kev,Β cheers mate. Kev, thank you that's very generous. And umΒ Β

we're having a starter to share because weΒ did have some lunch but you're having a steak sort of ... Medallions!

I'm actually having a burgerΒ um because the burgers hereΒ Β

are reported to be very good. They makeΒ them themselves here.. And it's got bacon on it

room temperature. Yeah. Oh look wow that wasΒ quick. Oooh. Now that is a tall burger, look at that

And that's uh a steak snackΒ Β

Medallions. Sue and Oskar, you would reallyΒ appreciate this ... and Cheryl. There are so manyΒ Β

different tastes going on with all of the foodΒ and it's all really well cooked it's just superb

That's all I can say

It's artistic that's something else that makes me happy.

Look at that, perfect. Creme brulee, yum!

That was awesome. The food was great. Yeah.Β The price was very good. We've got a bitΒ ...Β

it's blowing a bit of windΒ here right now. I!'m stuffedΒ Β

I am. But it was so well cooked and it was soΒ beautifully presented it's definitely well worthΒ Β

going to. Yep can definitely recommend that restaurantΒ in the uh marina complex. And the staff were

really attentive - friendly - yeah - funny - yeah absolutely

even though I elbowed one of the guys in theΒ nuts. That's another story for another day!

But anyway um yeah that was another birthdayΒ for you. Okay back to the boat we might even takeΒ Β

a uh a cooling swim in the marinaΒ pool. If it's open still. It'll still be open um coz it's just so ...

I'll probably sink... outrageously hot at theΒ moment it's uh I would say it's about 38 39Β Β

degrees centigrade, it's just ridiculous. And the sun's gone down. YeahΒ no sun just hot wind . Fortunately it is uhΒ Β

just heat and no actual humidity like we haveΒ in Australia so for us yeah that's that's fineΒ Β

We can cope with that. So we're gonna get the littleΒ buggy back because it's a little bit too far to walk in high heel shoes

Ah yeah, the shoes.

Toilet fetish, it's not really a fetish. After 20Β years of marriage I'm finding this out nowΒ Β

We've just arrived in Kusadasi marina and I'mΒ the first one to use the toilet and showerΒ Β

facilities and I can tell you that any fantasiesΒ and fetishes that Aannsha may have about toiletsΒ Β

when she sees this lot she's gonna have her mind blown!

It wasn't so much the toilets thatΒ impressed me, it was the showers

They're so spacious and they have rainfall showers

You can see how new the pontoon is here because ofΒ the minimal amount of growth that it's got on itΒ Β

and just like Marmaris we're able to come closeΒ enough here with our stern lines so we can justΒ Β

step off no passarelle needed. Yeah it's pretty cool.Β Yeah a lot less messing around really isn't it?Β Β

Yes it's great. So we're just walking to the endΒ of the pontoon and there's a really good view ofΒ Β

pretty much the whole of the marina from hereΒ Β

Three new pontoons are going toΒ be coming out off that quay there

but right now this is justΒ a great big turning circleΒ Β

Most places always seem to have tennis courtsΒ but they hardly ever seem to be used but I guessΒ Β

the height of the heat of the summer is notΒ really a time to be running around on the tennis courtΒ Β

Inside the marina complex itself is this fishΒ restaurant um we haven't been here but um it seemsΒ Β

to get quite busy at night time. There is a hugeΒ Migros supermarket but you can't get accessΒ Β

to the supermarket from inside the marina complexΒ you've got to go out through the main gate hook anΒ Β

immediate left and you're straight at the entranceΒ to the supermarket. This is the marina admin officeΒ Β

and you'll find some very helpful staff inΒ there and they speak good English too. Aannsha's

just going in to make a query about something. OnΒ site at this marina they also have the technicalΒ Β

workshops and all the technical services youΒ probably expect from a big marina and of courseΒ Β

at the fuel station there are black water pumpΒ out options as well. Big hard stand area over hereΒ Β

and close to the other side of the marina there'sΒ a smaller hard stand area for smaller boats. Don'tΒ Β

know anything about the technical services here,Β not had to use their services at all thankfullyΒ Β

and we haven't spoken to anyone whoΒ could tell us anything about themΒ Β

Here's main gate security. The guys and girls hereΒ are very friendly and always say hello to usΒ Β

every day we come in and out. And just there asΒ you can see it's the Migros supermarket

Once you're outside the main gateΒ there is another large part of theΒ Β

marina complex which incorporates a lotΒ of restaurants and boutique shops and uhΒ Β

even ... what's it called Burger King. I wasΒ gonna say Hungry Jacks but that's AustralianΒ Β

and um yeah it's quite a lot of shops alongΒ here as we walk in the general direction of theΒ Β

main part of the town. Opposite you've got lots ofΒ restaurants too. There's a you know Chinese cuisine

there's certainly plenty of choice the momentΒ you step outside the marina that's for sure. Yep

If you like fish and fresh fish in particularΒ Β

this particular part here is right next to whereΒ the the big trawlers fishing trawlers come in andΒ Β

offload their catch and there are so manyΒ fish restaurants in this area it is amazing

I've brought some for you Baz. I was just about to feed the cats.

All right, doesn't look very fresh to meΒ looks like it's been there for a while. YeahΒ Β

When people were trading with their camel caravansΒ and bringing spices and other stuff to theΒ Β

the region this would be where they would stopΒ with their camels overnight because they wouldΒ Β

get them inside and feed them and water themΒ and they'd be protected inside the walls of hereΒ Β

from any marauding people. The buildingΒ was actually restored in the 1960sΒ Β

so we'll go and have a take a look inside

Okay so this castle or fort depending on what your opinion of Β Β

the definition of the either or, is uh it's onΒ Pigeon Island from which Kusadasi derives itsΒ Β

name and uh it's also the symbol of the city.Β It was fortified in the middle to start with toΒ Β

defend the harbour of Kusadasi. They reckon it wasΒ built somewhere around about the 16th century theΒ Β

walls the outside walls um were built in 1826Β uh because of an inscription it's just aboveΒ Β

the entrance that tells us that date it was linkedΒ to the the mainland with this roadway in the 1960sΒ Β

and the last restoration of the castle area wasΒ carried out between 2012 and 2015. If you visitΒ Β

here you'll see that there are lots of differentΒ notice boards that give you information on theΒ Β

birds and the flora and fauna that are in theΒ area as well as some of the history of the oldΒ Β

town itself comparing it to some of the streetsΒ that they've renovated and how they look today
