come on in welcome back to cactus aliens
always please subscribe button below if
you like our videos give us a thumbs up
as well so it's this is pretty much the
last bit so you can do before you all
have to go back to work and all that
kind of stuff obviously we're not gonna
we're still going to be sailing for the
rest of this year just not on this
voyage so today we're just we're going
to be messing around in a code for a bit
just doing a bit of swimming again and
cut aboard nonsense it's north in that
kind of stuff now we've just left the
green this morning there is a bit of sea
fog out here so I just thought I'd share
that with you basically visibility is
roughly around hundred maybe two hundred
meters at the very very most there is a
boat to our port side over there so if
it'll just answer come around there
might be able to see one
upon see it I'll see it well there is
another boat out there so hopefully
that's kind of shows you that you know
there is a boat roughly around 100
meters away just got to keep a bit of a
sharp watch out and bit of a lookout to
see where all the boats on where they
might because we don't have radar a is
as well is basically all based on mobile
devices and all that kind of stuff so
it's not proper a is that's why I call
it so it's got to keep a sharp lookout
and look at the vessels and obviously
you've got to make the right sound
signals if you
in these situations as well
but we will be alright anyway it's not
far to go anyway we're gonna go about 45
minutes gets the scope and then we going
for
hopefully it's not full of other boats

the key thing with fog is you can get
disorientated quite quickly so you need
to get a fix from there you can use your
speed to work out how much distance
you're traveling and how quickly expect
to get there visibility was down to less
than hundred meters so you need to be
quite accurate in navigation and in the
world of GPS we often forget how to do
things the old-fashioned way now I'm I'm
in the luxury here because I know these
what was quite well but I can't even see
the shoreline which is only a hundred
metres away I also know before I set off
I did a quick course to stare in my head
so if I stick to 87 degrees I'll get to
my destination equally if I can get into
any trouble I can stare back to 270 and
go back to the safety of Weymouth and
more importantly the navigation lights
one thing you can use when you've got
zero visibility is your depth gauge and
there's quite a lot of contours on here
that you can use if you haven't got a
visual fix and these will help you
navigate in such far as this

so the winds not particularly that
strong this morning running about six
knots coming pretty much directly from
Harvey with sailing means we're roughly
doing around two and a half three knots
so we are going to sail it a minute
the reason for that is it's getting
you'll get close to lunchtime by time
against this Cove and it being a Sunday
there's a lot of people with gin on ice
and champagne on ice you know they don't
want it to get too cold
sorry too warm before they get there so
they'll all be anchoring up before us so
trying to keep a bit speed up to open
together place in there otherwise
they'll be no room at the end we pull of
gin palaces and no no real sailboats so
that's that's why we're noticing it
we'll see when we get there see apple is
so the fog has got a little bit worse
outside we've been imaging through the
pillars by NAR foghorn we've never
really had to use this before because
we've never really been out in Fault
the only time I've ever really sailed in
pop before is if I've ever been learning
sad or doing an eating skipper in that
kind of stuff and all the people boats
where they've got you know where gas
canister an air or two this soft foghorn
meant we've got in those rooms every two
minutes doing the foghorn sounds and
this is what it sounds like
and then every time I flow it took
always on to say Happy New Year speaks
it sounds like what are they little
parties feelings
think we need to invest the proper
footboard

we did manage to lower him the end we
did sneak in when I mean there's a
closed space looking from the entry
entrance and there is link voting here
but we did find much managed to find a
little spot no cause much chain hours
Mike we've only got like a three to one
scope at a minute because I can't really
play anymore out folks around but we're
not leaving about anyway so I'd like
more taint out versus one of those
things and hopefully the fog lifts in a
bit because system volume in every way
yes a cup winners in a bit and hopefully
we'll be sailing back in nicer weather
the didn't lift and it was with us
all the way back when we got back to
Weymouth we heard about a firework show
that was gonna be on on the beach later
so that's where we headed next
