We grab a quick anchorage to investigate some engine noise and Dan dives on the prop. We then sail for the town of Mahone Bay for the night. The next day we ...

alright guys so we had some weird engine
noise last night and we're worried that
it might be something wrapped around the
prop so I stood it up I'm gonna dive in
and check it out
mm-hm so wish me luck

last time when sailing Bella Chandra we
sailed into st. margarets bay anchored
out at troupe Island and we had our
first injury of the trip
[Music]
I realized there was nothing wrapped
around the prop which led me to
investigating the engine and prop shaft
directly I discovered that our stuffing
box was the source of the noise and just
needed a little grease
[Music]
so how much space is under the keel
right now few feet like six feet all
right
yep ready all right nice this is how we
bathe here on balachander nice now we're
all clean and refreshed the water here
is pretty nice I like that you can see
the bottom I'll clean some boat beard so
we're just coming into Nova Scotia
the seals in the water we're gonna go in
there and try and find either a mooring
or an anchorage whatever we can manage
we had a little bit of a struggle
getting a relaxed Anchorage because we
had a depth of two we had like two feet
under the keel and at one minute we had
like one foot under the keel and we
really thought and then zero it's very
shallow we have eleven point two feet
below us right now and we're heading for
that boring field which could be less
but there's lots of boats our size over
there so we're getting a bit of crack
and we grabbed a mooring yeah hook dry
first morning today she nailed it dude
he put the dinghy in the water and came
ashore and that's us out there that you
can see no equal we're the tallest mass
but still I know you can see it's way
out there but yeah it's kind of shallow
like when the tides out there's like two
feet under our keel and that's it so
fingers cross but we're not the only
fine yeah we'll be fine
oh yeah no worried yesterday was worse
oh yeah what happened that I danced
I fell in the chain Locker you did what
now I fell in the chain Locker
[Laughter]
it was super dark I couldn't see
anything and I just had my little
flashlight like this big and we were
anchoring in like really shallow water
and I was really concentrated on the
anchor and I backed away from the anchor
to hit the buttons to drop the anchor
and just walking back backwards with no
light
[Music]
we just left the home bank back there
behind us and we were trying to decide
between going to Lunenburg or to another
island with a beach and all that and
based on the weather and the fact that
we're already in my home Bay Area we
picked out an island and we're gonna go
try and anchor there tonight and
hopefully that goes well we'll get some
more swimming in and tomorrow we'll go
to Luneberg we have to buy a new weather
vane we can probably find a weather vane
and Luneberg they have that kind of
thing there so check this out guys all
beach
and it's all deserted this is our first
deserted island anchoring we're on this
little tiny island it's completely
deserted nobody lives here there's this
beautiful beach that goes the whole
length of the island and the way the
wind is blowing we found a nice little
protected spot to drop our anchor and
we're here so I'm gonna show you guys
how we did it all right so as you can
see here's our anchor right there we
dropped our anchor way over there in
front of that point just like off the
edge where it's still a bit deep and we
have deep water all here and the wind's
blowing this way the direction of the
waves towards our bow and pretty soon
I'm sure but will straighten out here
we're in about 30 feet of water maybe 25
30 and if our bow swings back it'll just
put it back in here and that's all
fairly deep water so we made this
decision that even though there's a good
onshore wind blowing from on that side
we can get a pretty quiet spot here with
less waves so that's what we chose and
then we can access the beach like really
easily it's a beautiful beach this is
what it's all about guys
[Music]
to lay in front of me my historians pick
apart the things far ways all my travels
here far and wide
the official objection that's really
good it's been
[Music]
[Music]
