ok well the sunday race from Kelowna to
Summerland was forecasted to blow up be
a storm late after or mid-afternoon we
started out the race with virtually no
wind as you can see it was very very
light and fickle coming from East the
West the South in dim changed around to
the north a little bit gave me a chance
to put my spinnaker up so dropped my
sales put it up flew it for a little
while then we were back onto the
headsail again and as we got further out
into the race course I did see the wind
was blowing up off squally point so I
dropped my head sail down and put on my
one Tim along with a reef made this gave
me the control of the boat and is a good
thing that I did this before the big
wind hit because then I would have been
in big trouble without having true on
the boat and I was looking for safety I
put in the hatch boards just as a safety
precaution case anything did happen and
we were getting into you I was getting
into trouble so let's just try to keep
the water on the boat if we got into big
big trouble as the race went on the
winds picked up to 35 knots there were
areas or three to four foot waves so it
was an exciting time
I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge
pushed me to my limits and the boats
limits to control everything but
thinking out ahead in advance gave me
the ability to sail safely and to
complete the race several bones did drop
out for safety reasons I was in full
control and very comfortable with the
sails selection that I had and carried
on to finish the race and was very proud
of my sailing abilities and finished
third overall for this leg kelowna to
Summerland which put me in a position to
finish third overall for my fleet
dedicated this race to the disabled
sailing association as what kept going
through my mind was there go i but by
the grace of God I have the abilities to
get around and enjoy everything where
disabled persons are limited in their
capabilities but we the disabled sailing
association has boats that are rigged
for for them to sail allowing them even
though they are handicapped to enjoy my
sport this is what I have dedicated this
this race and doing the race
single-handed to that Association
