This week we experience more bad weather, Trace finally gets her stitches out enabling us to leave, however we find some damage to our boat which leaves us marina bound for a while longer.
We witness the aftermath of an unfortunate accident at sea between a fellow Hanse sailing boat and a large ship.
Making the most of our time marina bound, we visit the famous healing temple of the Greek gods of medicine and healing, where Hippocrates is said to have learnt medicine, as well as the tree under which Hippocrates taught his students.
Oh and of course, Jase actually catches something with his fishing line, and it is not what you may think :)
We hope you enjoy xx

so it's Wednesday morning and we've got
to get the video right for tomorrow so
this is pretty much real-time it's not
really the nicest of days out so that
just makes it a bit more annoying that
the secondary heating solution has have
to be switched on because our ever
Spiker won't start again
[Music]
so I've taken the ever Spiker apart and
this is the globe plug and the atomizer
screen the atomizer screen in particular
as you can see it's very badly cooked up
with some parts the glue plug is still
nice and straight generally speaking
when these glue folks have had enough
the tip begins to go rind off or it
begins to swell right and get quite
large I'm not usually a sign that these
are hot enough need replacing so this
one here should in theory be all right
but the inside of the combustion chamber
is horribly coked up and it's going to
have to go in for cleaning there's no
two ways about it
so it's off to the service center for
the upper smoker
[Music]
control don't listen to them after the
and you can see that that's like a layer
and its allies are to circulate under
the mattress Oh putting its own in the B
birth once I get it cleared and
hopefully that will reduce the
conversation itself any moisture
problems under nitrous
[Music]
so in the bee birth and what I've got is
a marker pen a sharp light box cable
ties boom the boat has got insulation
and poly there's a little bit of it like
this which is very ho and this is what
moisture forms are and then runs into
the bed space and wets the underside of
the mattress on the underside of the
sheet this will provide a separator
needed to keep the mattress and the
sheet off the base this moisture will
then be able to travel through this and
vent through some small holes here and
that will dry the bed out my basic
problem is that my v-berth is triangular
and this is rectangular so it will have
to be cut to fit
so this is it Rafi laid out the plan is
to cut off some of these triangles here
and then put them up at the front and
then it catch to touch them at the cable
ties
[Music]
so this is the space under the vapor at
the front and that is open and quite a
draft came through it so what I did with
that was I got some floor board and cut
it to the exact ship and then I made a
little upright on the far side also had
a flora board which I screwed to it then
I just pushed the whole thing forward
and covered it with the insulation so
it's not actually held in by anything
other than pressure it's just exactly
sized to fit and then just pushed in
this is a piece of leftover void that I
have from the little barrier I made to
go on top of the water tank in the
v-berth and it's not a particularly
brilliant wood but I'm sure it'll be
fine it's not particularly done for a
wet in there I marked the sides of the
boat the angle of the sides of the boat
and then this bit here was chopped off
and similar in that side and that was
chopped off and then I got a another
piece of wood obviously put it on like
that and it's been screwed dying into
this and then this surface here has all
the reflective foil on it EDC and the
whole thing was then just pushed back
until the side of the boat came up to
this edge here and similarly on the
other side and it just makes a snug fit
so the side of the boat that was here
has been done with the special
insulation that's Emily over there and
then this edge along here has all been
done with the CM special initiation and
that's sort of use just to block the
airflow coming through the top of that
area and well so it's not exactly
brilliant we do pack this there site
with other things like bosons chairs and
in fender cloths and things like that
and boom tents so we just try to use
those as another layer of insulation in
here but and I'm thinking of adding more
insulation to the underside of their Sun
to the underside of
this piece of wood here and then that'll
just cut down on damp and cold that's
traveling up also these these bed boards
could do its bit of insulation under
them to be honest they could deal with
revarnished this is the original varnish
that was put on by the very and I think
15 years of wear and tear it's both time
they were redone I am supposed to be
going up to Manchester to collect the
abbess Packer this morning but railings
waiting for the rain to stop so I don't
get absolutely drenched going from here
to the car so we're gonna do some
insulation instead so it's Wednesday
morning and we've got to get the video
right for tomorrow
so this is pretty much real time this is
this is where we are this is our new
roll of insulation following from last
week video one of our commenters said
there was a different insulation we
bought this one from Keira vans and that
is eight mill closed cell foam but she'd
found a different insulation which is 10
mils closed cell foam but this time it's
from Van Diemen yes and there's a lot
quiz question there sir this is from Van
Diemen so it must be from an Australian
company and if you can tell me why that
is then there could be a prize in it if
you're the first one to do so so this is
10 mil closed cell foam and what we're
going to do with that is finish off the
spots which we didn't do but the nice
thing about having spots which we didn't
do we'll be able to show you the
difference between where we have got
insulation and where we have okay so
what we write this is under the Banquo
with insulated this bit but we haven't
engineered it not bit we've run out we
ran out so what I'm gonna do
who's gonna rub that couple of rubs like
so and I'm gonna set it aside and
there's a clean tissue of taken I'm
gonna just rub this and you can st. yeah
and you can already see the difference
yeah all right could have put a thing
doing
so that's the difference it is mid yeah
so that's where the installation that's
where the insulation was and that's
where the ensuring one Asian yeah and
those sections are under the water line
these sections here that are above the
water line aren't as bad no they're not
that still got a little bit of dampness
but nothing like thin lining like under
the way line water under the waterline
you can really see the difference
yeah because Bev is using the Stanley
blade which is the correct tool for
cutting this stuff we find one in the
horse box yeah that's basically the old
tools that were left by the previous
owner but yeah don't use don't use
kitchen knives use a good standard
stanley knife to cut this insulation
okay so we've cut this piece decides to
fill the little gap in the corner and
what gain is going to do is she's just
gonna peel off part of the backing
because when this stuff sticks it is
actually quite sticky we find out the
hard way all right so I've just peeled
it back so that I can pop this right up
into the corner there up in there
I'm gonna push it lazy that seemed in
yeah and then recall the air bubbles
like from behind it ya know you'll
notice you didn't put all the backing
paper off the reason for that is that
she sticks it down she will reach behind
it and pull off the backing paper so I'm
just pulling a bit more down because if
you pull it all off this will stick to
absolutely everything around here yes
the speaker cable oh well
speaker cable is now embedded into the
party lorries let's get the scene led in
if you can
that's it
Oh
[Music]
and the good thing about this insulation
is when we go to warmer climates you
will actually keep this nice and cool as
well
[Music]
welcome back the mr. ever smoker is back
with me what the service center has said
is that it's almost certainly time to
really win it decent they say that the
ones thinking in for the most regular
services are the ones that run on red
diesel they've got truck once and things
like that some of which run a white
diesel some of which from the red diesel
and the red diesel ones are in every
three to six months the white diesel
ones much less frequently a year a year
and a half typically so they say the
gumming up were experiencing is probably
almost certainly due to the newer
combustion temperatures you get with red
diesel I have thought there's no
difference between them so now I've
gotta get it fitted back to farm to get
it going again and then we'll decide
whether and could start selling our
Titan Point diesel it is more expensive
but the money you spend you spend
getting new
