We are really fortunate to spend another week in stunning Turkey. This week we sail 52nm from Kas Turkey to Gocek to pick up some family and friends. We loved Kas but it's time to head back up the coast. We have 1 month until we need to leave Turkey and we will enter Greece.
Our friends Will and Elise are Kiwi's who are working in the UK, they have a small window of time off, so we hope to show them a great time in and around Southern Turkey. They are both keen to learn more about sailing so we use the time to answer as many questions as possible and give them a variety of experiences.
After collecting Will and Elise from Gocek we visit 2 larger bays East of Gocek where we swim, laugh and visit a beach bar. Both bays offer clear waters and a great vibe. We also sail into Fethiye where Will and Elise sight see the area. The sailing over the 6 days is great, with a variety of conditions to practice in.
With perfect conditions forecast we head to Butterfly Valley and Karacaoren. These both offer some of the clearest water we have ever seen and we enjoy showing our guests. They hike Butterfly Valley while Trace and I enjoy snorkeling the bay. The night ends with a fantastic meal, lots of laughs and table tennis.
We also celebrate my birthday with our Turkish friends and enjoy another great night out in Gocek.
About us:
Our names are Jason and Tracey and we traded our house, cars, business, job and security for freedom, adventure, travel and living simply amongst nature and the seas on our 45 foot Hanse 445 sailing boat, Kawai.
We don't know exactly where the winds will take us at this stage but over the last couple years we have sailed to Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia.

i liked it here 52 nautical miles
exactly when having guests on board the
plan usually starts months in advance
over facebook or instagram we then need
to find an area close to an airport or
port that has a reasonable anchorage to
collect we then plan our route to time
the arrival giving us enough time to
consider weather maintenance and
provisioning and be ready to show
everyone a good time using this calmness
to start the trip to run the water maker
it runs off the solar panels um yeah we
don't need anything we don't need the
engine
but we're in like this
pretty enclosed area probably for the
first hour and then we get out of
here and into the open ocean and
hopefully the winds
show up

we're going crazy we are nearly there
we've got three and a minute nautical
miles to go

has died down we're only going two and a
half now

we chose go check due to its proximity
to dalaman airport and its easy access
to the shore it is vastly different to
the peaceful anchorages surrounding
cache and kokova
we would be picking up elise and will
who are currently working in the uk from
new zealand and had a small window of
time off so we're excited to have them
on board

after exploring go check for a couple of
days we hit the water in search of some
quieter bays there were two larger bays
with clear water in the east of gochek
towards fedia and with some stronger
winds forecast we hope for some sailing
in the afternoon

trace obviously had that one
she likened it to learning how to drive
the car you know i could just stuff it
up she can fix it
we're here
in the bay and
yeah let's go for a swim yeah how'd you

perfect he was fine i didn't need to be
there at all so
winning well we're going to enjoy this
day

after a very fun night of cards
impromptu art and many laughs we woke to
another perfect turkish morning where we
would sail to fetia
sailed previously and they were both
keen to jump in and try sailing a larger
boat with kawaii cruising along at seven
knots they both handled her very well

distance so yeah it's been a cool

variety of experiences in the area we
had previously enjoyed a night out at
karakoran and so we decided to head

could have a fun day in the crystal
