In this episode we hark back to our Honeymoon where we explore some of our favourite spots in the Whitsunday Islands post Tropical Cyclone Debbie. With wide spread destruction on the mainland of Airlie Beach only a month prior, we were eager to see how the islands and the beautiful reef systems that we had previously explored, had fared. Join us as we discover wrecks, sail the islands and enjoy a week of wedded bliss in nature...

We are an adventurous couple who live an alternative life - a life at sea. We feel better connected when we are sailing. We live simpler and have less impact on the environment. We take the time to immerse ourselves in different cultures, meet amazing people and experience what the oceans and our planet have to offer.
So come aboard and follow our adventures as we sail and explore our beautiful planet!

you can go for a salad you know last
episode we shared our tips on how to
make your cruising dollar go further
after spending a beautiful few days with
close friends and families celebrating
our wedding we thought we'd go and check
out some of the Bey's we'd previously
been to and see what had happened post
cyclone Debbie
that's my husband that guy he's amazing
I'd like to introduce you to my husband
you know
ha
thank you my darling

so we're in Nara Inlet and this is the
first time we've come out to some of
these outer base since the cyclone
Debbie passed through and we've been
finding all sorts of boats
upon the heart so to speak miss poor
worm here seems to be trapped in the
corner looks like a steely anyway we'll
go and take a look
not something you see very often
hopefully they can get it back
I'll just park right up there
poro thing
anyway someone's been on board so
hopefully they'll be able to get her out
of here sometime when the next big tides
come in
looks like she's pretty much parked in
there
but she's still got a mast
still got most of it rigging up
there may be hope yet
I guess if you're gonna be high and dry
this is a beautiful spot to be if you
look at it that way
gorgeous here
love all the rock formations
magic
you never used to be able to see any of
these cats before because of all the the
vegetation but because the Cyclones
whipped it all away it can now see a
cave where the Aboriginal people used to
hang out
beautiful little waterfall at the end of
Nara Inlet
how wonderful look at it
beautiful
another victim of cyclone Debbie
this one might be a little hard to say
you're like my attendant there is
nothing yeah
and why not they're quite cozy I'll
protect it okay great place to have a
shower
need a shower when you come in today
that looks beautiful is this gonna be a
lovely place to sit

[Music]
beautiful my honey
beautiful 15 to 20 no fighting no I Stan
Winston out hitting a better flow if I
have a little bit of an explore around
there after the coral damage you're in
so we don't just get of a tribe around
there and see what we can falling
run a little refill Toya later on
[Music]
and yet there's my husband he's amazing
he looks pretty happy too look at these
amazing rock formations that's a slight
clone debbie has revealed I reckon it'll
be an incredible trip to come out here
sailing say hello go climbing sail back
that'd be great here comes another one
awesome
[Music]
it's so much fun
beautiful
hahaha look at this
this is butterfly Bay it is one of my
favorite Anchorage's in the whitsundays
it's at the top end of Hawk Island out
here it looks at Norwest
whoo that's it there so they looked at
more east
it's a beautiful protected Anchorage
here and it's out basically so when the
trades are in this time of year it's a
wonderful place to camp beautiful as
your waters and lots of lovely coral
reefs to dive around here to check out
the fish life and it's really peaceful a
really nice spot to be so we've actually
come out here after cyclone duty just to
check out what it was like because we
had heard from some people that that the
coral the big coral bommies that were in
here like that were there was one just
behind us had actually been flipped over
with the power of the cyclone so we've
come out to have a little bit of a look
and see how much the bay has changed and
it has actually changed quite a lot
there's some actually over here is a
there's a beach that never used to be
here that's all all that sand has come
up from somewhere and also the beach is
over here are quite a lot larger than
they used to be and also further along
now this way there's actually a whole
coral outcrop here it's changed quite a
lot I think the power of the water
because the Cyclones set out here for
something like 12 to 18 hours
and the power of the water just changed
the whole dynamic the swell that must
have been roaring in here just
incredible so we're going to go have a
sub shortly and see if we can find some
places some good places to snorkel and
then get underwater and check it out so
beautiful day here and butterfly Bay in
the whitsundays day something or other
about honeymoon yipee do they use
morning exercise
look at it pump that thing
[Music]
[Music]
where's your guy
[Applause]
[Applause]
[Applause]
all right
how was it you I wasn't you
isn't it interesting the way the tree
took quite a hammering but the little
branches and the little leaves are
starting to grow again
nature's pretty cool
that's my honey up to
[Applause]
Wow
maybe made my husband did
[Applause]
oh it's fresh
so we went for a cruise in the dinghy
before and we found quite a few changes
to the reef actually and I think we saw
a really big clamshell you think you saw
a big clam Sheldon you sitting sitting
at low tide so we're going to go off for
a snorkel fairly shortly and see if we
can get over there and have a look see
what this clam shell really looks like
close-up
[Music]
[Music]
well it was officially the quickest
store call that down and I have ever had
it was freezing
definitely wintertime here in the
whitsundays time to crack out the
wetsuits I'm even going to go and buy a
long one I think probably not really
wouldn't have been to our Kiwi friends
who came to visit us last week but yeah
it's sad to see the coral has taken a
pounding from cyclone Debbie and there's
lots of dead coral air isn't there yeah
doesn't look very good very sad but
we're on a mission to find live healthy
coral will find it somewhere it's
there's gotta be some protected coral
some protected bodies and nice happy
healthy coral somewhere in the
whitsundays we shall find it no Cylon
yes so we're off around the state hope
with Stonehaven baby just having a nice
cup of warm Missy the bays filling up
here at butterfly with lots of tourists
and we're going to take our leave it
should be a nice afternoon for a sail
nice tender nice and fresh
