country is like opening a present

you never know quite what you're going

to find and it's always an adventure

so we were running down when most of the

night and the weather is actually going

to turn around and come from the

southeast in the next couple of days is

that we make our final approach to new

mirror and so what we've actually done

is jived away and we're working our way

slightly to the south so that when that

when does come around we'll be able to

sort of turn around and be on a beam

Rachel run back downwind begin to new

video so hopefully that'll pay off for

us there so at least it'll keep the wind

on our beam and my foot a year more

miles on the trip but it'll make for a

much more comfy Eroica feel so we had

this really strange experience last

night where the boat kind of got lifted

up and it was like she was going over

judder bars like this there was a really

strange experience there was still the

motion of the swell rolling through

underneath boat but there was this

distinct like we've got lifted up and

juddered like jonathon through this

period for about 36 to

was it really strange and Darrin didn't

feel it cuz he was he was asleep but I

certainly felt that I was out here in

the cockpit and I think I'm thinking

maybe a tectonic plate moved while there

was an earthquake or or something occurs

I'm gonna have to look it up when we get

back in the land of Internet and see if

I can find it because it was such a

strange occurrence that all my years of

styling I've never felt anything like it

ever to be lifted up and then have this

book but I put up like this the whole

boat shut it I was really surprised you

didn't wake up maybe maybe we rent over

a while or something that's it we ran

over a pod of whales so little like too

I'd certainly post they call him guys up

like he met he did because that guy

there he certainly didn't see us and he

was sharing out here online and could

have been a bit of a problem there

so that's a really good example actually

of how collisions that city can occur

because they were only five nautical

miles away from us when we saw them and

they came up on our a is

and they were we were on a direct

collision course with them and when I

called them up they didn't know we were

there

so yeah always good to make a practice

of calling them up just to say hello

they didn't know you're around

because that guys traveling at 23 knots

i meant that he's going past at about

half an hour

well an eventful few hours going on for

us just previously we had a school come

over and we were reaping the main down

and in order to do that we feel the head

soul and lost the halyard on the head so

as we were filling it

so we're now running on a storm saw and

full main so that's kept us busy for the

last three hours or so so yeah bit of a

mess to clean up I'm just having a bit

of a break Darrin is down below getting

a rest and I'm just gonna send some

messages off to the folks at home and

tell them he really goes Dan because I'm

a bit late on my 12-hour deadline and

then I'll continue cleaning up as we say

a lot

so this is very exciting is that last

warning it's a flow in about

maybe another three or four hours we

should make the outside refactor jamia

and then we'll have another come out so

a few hours of going from the outer reef

and to port myself and we shall be an

immediate new caledonia a new country

how exciting

all happened in the last 24 hours but

you know it's just this is what it's all

about these challenges make us stronger

before we could get out exploring we had

to make repair was that you my hate are

the things that go bang in the middle of

the night

yeah we're dropping the further down

we've we've got a little bit of damage

on our passage the holy it broke and

it's going around a wire that runs

through there and it's it's twisted all

the war so unfortunately we're going to

drop it down and replace the wire and it

anyway that's what we're up to today it

had been an interesting week trying to

bridge the language barrier to find a

replacement head stay for our further

but we've been lucky enough to stumble

across the wrong who is the man to see

for all things boats LaRon doesn't have

much English and we didn't have much

French but he sold around the world

three times and understands budget

cruising so with lots of gesturing quite

a bit of laughter and some drawings we

got to the core of the issue and he was

kind enough to offer us his dock for a

few hours so that we could dismantle our

rig

with the Filner off we decided to

stretch our legs Bend provision up to

get out of town for a while

this is the last time I can see you in a

while look at this gorgeous day I'm so

glad to be out here we lived in a car in

Australian winter and we've come to

beautiful you Caledonia it's so much

warmer here it's just lovely yes so

today we are travelling on to a place

called a lot mate oh and

it's a little eyelet which is apparently

that's a really great snorkeling and

diving so really cared to get home and

look out there and should think what

it's like yesterday we were sitting

having lunch and I do got popped up

right beside the boat you wouldn't

believe it and we've seen so many

dolphin stirs I haven't been able to

catch them on the camera for you but it

just proves along here but I'm so

looking forward to getting underwater

Caledonian winter is a little bit chilly

but it's warmer than Brisbane baby

anyway we're gonna go and check out what

we can find underwater looks gorgeous

this beautiful reef off the gate oh yeah

yes our lovely French gentleman just

come over with a couple of extra fish

and he reckons he was having a bad day

but he brought over this he's done

pretty well Hannity he done alright you

brought over this nice little trout and

I think that's a trigger fish that he

suggested that's really good rule yeah

I'll be interesting to try that one out

lucky way hey good stuff the Sharks had

followed us home so we decided to hang

the fill it down for a bit of fishy fun

my shark attack if I was cleaning them a

couple of fishing off a tile will I seen

these guys circling around they knew I

had a couple of fish on board and knock

it off I'll stick a line out and just

have a play with them kids three of them

swimming around in here yeah took them a

while to get even unfortunately dinner's
