I'm helping my dad to get those windows
and to take out every single one of
these bigger stories or something I've
never been out able to look it up the
window but we will let me get the new
one
[Music]
keep coming out to any animal places
[Music]
okay now we're popping out this
monstrosity and it helped me for a while
a couple to tighten for her to get so
wins on her lunch break
I'll put me out bring in the muscle of
course
[Music]
okay all the hardware's off we're gonna
take it off get some air in there nice
warm day get a breeze enough to get this
thing off I know maybe ten seconds maybe
ten minutes just depends on the
goose-stepping
try to do without break it's amazing
after 20 years thing still wants to
spring back
I don't like the shape of this we're
gonna reshape this too I think I'm gonna
keep in this bottom edge out even off
the deck here he doesn't even need the
hardware to hold this on

it's really interesting with everything
out I kind of like it
this were getting a lot of airflow today
it's a warm Seattle day this is rare
we're having a little heatwave supposed
to get billed to about 95 five Thursday
supposed to be a good time to do this
come here to look weird oh you want to
be the first one to go through there of
course going through that one I bet you
nobody's gone through those in 25 years
maybe maybe okay Roger today all this
old silicone around these old windows
and scrape all this out then I'm gonna
reshape this windowpane
ha no cell phone by the way
see all the stuff on top
I'll break it down too so I know what
I'm in for this will probably about I
would guess six hours to get all this
out of here
just chisel away real lightly you don't
Mar the surface
yeah got the inch and a half done about
35 feet of this to go I'm about two
hours into this now today or five hours
to go
this is
silicones pretty amazing stuff seals
well this stuff's 20-plus years old
Windows never leaked once see why now
keep working it working it working it
what I do is I scrape just clean it I
can put the cheese off the surface
I'll go back and I use a 60 grit
sandpaper to get the next little layer
off I try to do that without going
through the pain but that'll step the
surface enough but I'm fair to give this
something to grab to make sure all the
supplement percent off before I get the
bearing compound
see I've fared it down here there's the
old non-skid here's a flat surface I
need to fare all this up a little time
here
it's nice getting the right angle to the
Sun help you look at me
[Laughter]
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
it's kinda interesting today the Blue
Angels overhead
we have Seafarer in Seattle this weekend
move angels your town is always
impressive gives you chills when they go
by I've got that kind of interesting
weather though got wildfires all the
smoke is coming down from British
Columbia and really affecting our area
air quality is terrible today but y'all
gotta keep up in the heart so here's my
project for today I've taken the window
out stripped all of you oh all the
silicone off now I've reshaped the
window this is what I'm doing I'm
evening out the bottom so it's even off
the back deck or the bottom XA and
I'll get this cut today this morning
then I'll have to fill in the night
accord with epoxy sand fare and get this
area ready for paint so that's my day
don't seem like much but that's going to
be teased all day easily
[Music]
[Music]
so I cut back just the edge of the 90
core got down a half an inch then I just
crush it and I'm aiming for like 3/8 to
1/2 inch now I'll fill it with a faring
compound and stand it smooth and that'll
give you a nice finished edge
[Music]
what you doing Emma
is it fun okay eat your lunch while
you're doing that so Emma's having a
little lunch and doing her homework
she's doing a Lexia program I'm gonna
head out here and working with blazing
Seattle Sun what I'm doing today is now
that I've reshaped the window here I'm
baring it all out getting ready for
paint
I have this done today
I'll paint down tomorrow morning and
then I'll put a hole single coat over
the whole thing
and not get so I've got a little ways to
go but it's getting there okay I just
primed the last bit I'll be putting top
coat on here in a few minutes kind of
another hazy warm day so the perfect
conditions for painting
[Music]
kiss yet goosebumps doesn't it I know
it's crazy
okay back to work happy Seafarer I'll
start painting I know so I'm gonna go
sneak up on teal and see what he's up to
looks like
this is the last bit of paint that we
are going to be doing that covers up all
they bold stuff I had
getting there so this is the first coat
of everything and then we'll do one more
coat and then we'll tape off and do a
non-skid coat and then we can put in the
new windows yeah it's like the hottest
hottest couple weeks in Washington to
date and we have no windows so no air
conditioning it's okay it'll get us
acclimated to tropical areas again
actually been perfect weather for me
yeah
[Music]
