okay this is our lazy Sunday most people
think that that's all we do is relax on
a boat but what they don't understand is
there's a lot of boat maintenance that
is involved in the systems of our boat
so we actually do a lot of installs but
at the same time we have to remember
that we have to maintain them too so I'm
gonna go see what teal is doing since I
did laundry and I clean some other areas
what are you doing it's battery day do
this three times a year every four
months what are you doing in there well
first I wipe all the batteries down get
them all nice and clean make sure
there's no battery acid bleaching out
everything looks good so it's nice keep
them clean before I get started
are you gonna do - its batteries well I
have to check the fluid level in each
one and top them off so that's what I'm
doing right now put this thing in there
yeah water distilled water and these are
about clean so that's so see how that
works okay so we have six six volt
Trojans and I had leaked them in series
into three separate series to get 12
volt out of six volt battery there are
225 amp hours for each Bank here so we
have 675 amp hours of battery right here
good yeah and we'll start with this and
maybe a upgrade to lithium one day but
for now this is gonna work just fine
it's works so there we go
maintenance day maintenance day

okay down to batteries let's see how
much we used a little over half the
gallon we add six batteries with three
cells each that's 18 cells about 1/2 a
cup each that's 9 cups total that's
about right
right where we should have been ok next
project it's gonna be the fridge freezer
I need to defrost it I usually do it
every couple months a little overdue and
I noticed that the fridge was getting a
little bit warmer and I kept having to
turn up the thermostat to cool
everything down but it looks like
there's some blockage I'll show you what
I mean all right so this is the culprit
starting to grow down like an iceberg oh
yeah
and so it's blocking the flow down to
the fridge excellent does the same thing
down here doesn't it yeah it does
ok well how do you clean that out empty
now I'm just happy that I don't have to
fall into my counter to try to dig
everything out so I'm gonna take this
out defrost it with a hairdryer and put
everything back together ok let's do it
all right I'm gonna turn off the fridge
first
then time to unload
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
all I need are four items I need a hair
jar extension cord and a towel oh and a
spatula actually for scraping and that's
it that's it okay let's get at this
[Applause]
[Music]
give me this pig one I'll get it out
here all right this is that big piece
the thing that's blocking in all the
coals this set that down take it under
here take a look at this sucker this is
amazing it really is amazing
thanks gotta wait seven eight pounds I
know this is why it's not getting cold
in fridge wait a bit monster open the
door let me get rid of this thing it's
into the lake right oh it's like an
iceberg
[Music]
okay so now what just cleaning up and
putting everything back in okay that was
an easy job so you didn't take too long
no it doesn't actually take long I was
like super intimidated the first couple
of times but it takes about half an hour
I know it's just getting that last chunk
of ice out of there yeah that thing is
huge
I still want to damage anything
everything looks good but nobody looks
perfect okay let's get the thing stuffed
full of food and on to the next project
time to eat yeah let's have lunch okay
hey you guys look real busy we are yes
it's a relaxing day yeah well I have to
surface ahead so you know what that
means somebody has to polish it first
I say now that you should do it yeah
you're old enough do you want to do it
[Music]
okay I can't hey I'll tell you what
let's draw straws okay
come on pick wisely okay hold them up
who's polishing today Emma's is that Oh
yours teal mine is the shortest okay
okay let me see yours it's longer than
that let me see let me see okay I'll go
get the gloves okay that's clean tag
you're it
get to servicing that head okay I will
okay now that lin has this head all
shiny and clean and looking pretty I'm
gonna do my bit which is do it just
basic maintenance on it um it's actually
pretty simple I don't tell her how easy
this only takes me a minute so I let her
do the hard part every month so here's
what I do
okay it's pretty simple first thing you
do is open up the lid pull the plunger
all the way out and you feel lost if
this thing is most people try to take
off all these screws to get into here
but it is actually much easier than that
make sure the plungers in it all the way
up position just give this a little turn
right here the more before I open this
always have a couple napkins ready
if you don't have it in the upright
position
you lose quite a bit right here okay so
what I do just use a little synthetic
grease drill simple just put it right
around on this o-ring right here I do
this about once a month maybe every five
weeks
then that's it then put it all back
together push it down in here make sure
your o-ring seats correctly
finger-tight
time to back up loop it up and now it's
just smooth butter
it's that easy okay I'm giving a try
what do you think is it easier or harder
easier yeah okay so that'll work for a
couple more weeks for you yep okay so
everybody wonders when you flush the
toilet where does it go well goes into
your holding tank and once a week we
have a pump out service hit us up and
empty racks
maintenance day it's never over see what
Till's doing
what's going on trying to keep the mold
from growing on this side of the book
it's easy to bad a little work out
would it be better if we were just in a
dingy and scrubbing yeah but then I'd be
getting all this mold all over the dingy
and then have to watch the biggie so
tell this give me a watch the ding you
two think it'll work up me drop this
stuff line off hey well good for you for
you lot further down to the water than
you thank you I know let's see what my
parents are doing
hi
[Music]
hey how you doing I can't
I'm not down there soon as I get this
tip off okay
take it into these nice days I know
yep summers coming we do the site and
when you do the deck okay we do topside
okay do it
yep okay the ladies are out here still
scrubbing away nice to keep that new
paint nice and shiny
oh you'd love it
hey you gotta admit these new decks are
much easier to watch than the old day
remember all the dots and whatever that
stuff was on there I don't know it was
Emma
yeah I'm fine keep scrubbing find help
it would a ladies what happened I got
hurt real bad
how'd it happen well we're clean in the
side of the boat and my nail got caught
on the edge of the cleat and it almost
ripped it off so I'm just just trying to
salvage it and figure out how to sew sir
you get'em it I'm not the only one that
gets hurt on board first time was not
your first time don't you remember last
year when you tumble down the stairs
that was your fault my fault you are
running in socks you didn't have
non-skid on the boat oh okay so really
it is your fault right
it was cold okay let's check this out
see what you did so I cut it down as
much as I can and it's lifted all the
way down to here and it was bleeding oh
my god the pain is so bad okay I'm gonna
go get the superglue no superglue okay
we're out of my favorite I really like
this band-aid okay well let's just tape
it up and get this thing stable let me
split this hold this over here
okay let's put it on here so it's not
all the way on the tip guess it's a
little finger surprise you to rip your
whole finger off you know I don't want
to do too many laps I think that's
probably gonna be enough you sure yeah
okay that's gonna keep it from pulling
oh yeah that looks bad
what do you think sing that work well
you treated your pinkie for might be
cheating that's it the same hand yeah it
is nice
[Music]
