hey guys welcome back to SB basic today
on onboard lifestyle we'll be trying
something new a kid's perspective I'm
Emma and I am 11 years old a kid's
perspective will be about living on a
boat as a kid so hold on to your hats
folks
let's get into it the first episode of a
kid's perspective is all about raising a
dog on a boat
this is compass he is a Yorkie and he is
the first dog that I have ever owned I
have a lot of responsibilities to keep
him safe happy and healthy compass is
just a puppy he's not even two years old
yet when we first got him he was only
four weeks old compass loves to play and
he loves to sleep so sometimes he's
going 1 million miles an hour or he is
going zero miles an hour
there are a lot of places where a puppy
could get into trouble on a boat like we
don't want them going tumbling down the
stairs or going into the head or going
into the cockpit without it snowing so
my dad built these doggy doors and they
helped a lot because he can't jump over
them and when he doesn't need them
anymore or when we don't need them to be
in so you could just take them out dogs
can be pretty rough on your salon
cushions and so we put covers on them to
protect them
[Music]
it's really important for your dog to
have a really healthy diet let me show
you how we feed compass
lots of dogs are very specific and it's
very different for each dog on how much
food they get every day
compass gets two of these every day for
breakfast and dinner
[Music]
your keys are in the best what watchdogs
for a boat when anyone is nearby or
knocks on the boat the let you know
[Music]
[Music]
compass loves to go for walks and he
needs to to keep him healthy when well
even though he's tired right now he'll
still want to go see
I have a wider responsibilities when it
comes to compass and sometimes I can't
do them like grooming and cutting these
nails and so on my mom gets to do those
Gibson can get to hustle
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
now that he's all groomed up and his
nails are done I get to give him a bath
I think he likes it yeah he looks so
small because small he looks he looks
like a completely different dog but in
his ear then with his bath we do it
about once a month if it were up to my
mom we would do it once every week
[Music]
there are a lot of sailing dogs on other
cruising channels like maverick and
goose penne and mondo and king awesome
I think compass is gonna be one of the
very best let's talk a little bit about
this so when compass was a puppy we
trained him to go on his pad and it
works pretty well when he was a puppy we
trade him to go in about two days and
he's gone on it since we did that
because when you're under way you can't
just take your dog to shore because
you're under way so the rule in our boat
is that
his compasses inside he doesn't have to
wear his life jacket but if this is gone
then he does have to wear his life
jacket and he doesn't mind it that much
so
[Music]
here you go
[Music]
at night when we're all in our
staterooms compass actually wants to
sleep up here in the salon instead with
us you'll be in this bed or his kennel
thanks for watching the first episode of
a kids perspective
I'll be doing this twice a month so keep
your eyes open for the next exciting
video see you then
