On this week's episode of Onboard Lifestyle we raise a few glasses before reminiscing about our first 100 videos. Looking back at our first 100 was a blast a...

you know it's a very special day here on
SB basic and to celebrate we got a
little cleaned up I threw on my fanciest
suit he does own more than just his
t-shirts believe it or not it's our
hundredth episode so to commemorate and
celebrate celebrate I wanted to do a
huge toast I feel like we're always
celebrating I don't know
okay I'm more my style 100 videos when
here's to 100 more
cheers Cheers

is it mirror is it the first hundred
episodes just seemed like a blurred-out
it does it doesn't seem like we've been
doing this for very long I know it's
just been a little over two years now
and you know the first hundred videos we
were documenting the build documenting
the refit and really concentrating on
showing how we prepare or how we are
preparing this boat for world travel but
really in actuality it it dates back
even further from when we first
purchased her and this has been a
10-year project this day and if she was
neglected I mean quite honestly she was
neglected and do you remember thinking
back to you know you don't so it's so
weird to me is the the first couple days
actually the first couple years I was so
proud but looking back now at pictures
what we're thinking this project is huge
we hosted parties and have people over
remember the decks are just horrendous
right in the middle construction yeah it
was we had people that we'd come over
after we even washed the boat and they
didn't even want to sit down because it
looked like it was dirty yes it had like
a a green tint to it
do you remember you couldn't see through
any windows any port lines no panem
nothing I mean it was it was a project
and we I am so proud now do you remember
when you said this is gonna be a one to
two year project max tops it's not gonna
take more than two years okay I take it
all back yes I'd never believe him when
he says it's gonna be a quick scale of
this project was much larger than I yeah
well you know I mean it was hard because
at the beginning Emma was so young so
and we lived a hundred miles away yeah
so teal would take that trip over to
Seattle
and Emma and I would stay behind cuz it
was just you were in demolition mode
yeah it took me about two years just to
get this boat gutted to fair holes
before we can even start the refit what
a project talk about commitment
I think you were committed to this boat
then your two reasons so looking back
actually i want to get an a' in on this
Emma come on over here
looking back at this project what was
your favorite thing from before to after
probably my room yeah it's pretty
special you love that don't you what
about you Magali obviously I think so
I mean it it took so long to for us to
design that galley and to make it
perfect for me
I wanted it to flow and you actually
listened I remember we did have some big
discussions about the countertop that
was funny but I'm so happy with how it
turned out it's exactly what I want and
it makes it so easy for me to create all
the dishes that I want to create indoors
and outdoors and for me I think I don't
have one favorite really
I like your nap station well I love the
nav station I I just like how every
rooms turned out it's each one is so
unique and different and the worst part
for me was doing the staterooms because
it took me months and months and months
to do the master stateroom and then I
had to go to the guest room and just do
the whole thing all over harder for the
guesting room than it was for the master
stateroom because he did it in the
middle of winter and nothing seemed to
kick I maybe we were struggling
we used the fast care epoxy and it still
was so cold that it seemed like it would
take days for it to really hard and so
you can sand it properly
but everything turned out and here we
are be tipsy a little it's been a few
glasses it's good stuff
[Laughter]
hey this project I think it's run pretty
smooth over the past decade um I'm gonna
have to say no what I thought I have to
disagree we have all had our fair share
of bumps and bruises while building this
cat especially this one
little shards of glass will get into
your fingers
okay I just got that crooks cool my dad
broke his finger again start out about
this small and then proceeded to spread
doing a little first date yeah a ladies
what happened I got hurt real bad how'd
it happen
well we're clean in the side of the boat
and my nail got caught on the edge of
the cleat and it almost ripped it off
its like shredded open somehow what
should I put another one on there I
don't know I kind of think so on this
side no not held it together it stopped
it oh my god you left twice I got hurt
twice what are the odds yeah I'll get a
couple injuries once in a while but
I guess this is part of the game we went
in just a little beach coming the other
day and with all these big storms we've
been noticing a lot of debris wash up
the shore specifically plastic bottles
so it's a nice day again today and to
commemorate our 100th episode we've
decided to start the day off by picking
up a hundred plastic bottles seems
appropriate still up so it'll be a
beautiful walk
number one
number eleven
number 37
number 86
99 100 I win so we did it we got our
hundred bottles yep and I got the
hundred it took us longer than we
thought because I think somebody came
through before us and got a bunch
because it's yeah yesterday there was a
ton more so we got really creative and
we just really went through all these
little bushes and grass and everything
because you know garbage and plastics do
not belong in our oceans and it doesn't
belong on our beaches nobody likes to
see that so you guys pick up your
garbage yeah recycle so we all had fun
we got fun we got some steps in and I'm
tired I guess the best part of this
entire field is watching Emma grow up oh
for sure I'm still growing yes probably
but looking back for when we first
started she was - I mean she was just
this tiny little toddler yeah it is it
is fun to look back in all the pictures
the pictures and the videos of her
growing up on board yeah we're gonna
have a blog so yeah so mine is going to
be about arts crafts and adventure my
mom's gonna be at about cleaning
on her she should be on MasterChef I
forgot well naturally but and my dad
she's gonna be with building and I think
you should do navigation - yeah so so
we're gonna have a blog on board
lifestyle and yeah you ready for school
let's go your bus is waiting Emma your
bus is waiting let's go
this big old bus just for you what do
you think about that
okay have a good dance school love you
is it changing what do you think okay so
if they do look like toilets don't they
except for you better not use that as a
toilet I got down to the head again or
slash bathroom but it's the same thing
as you can see my dad is putting in the
toilet when I was younger I always
begged my parents for a dog and they
said that when we moved on board we
could get one so three years ago compass
joined the crew hey big news in the
Gobin family today we are off to the
ferry docks to
damn welcome to the family compass do
you think compass likes his new home
ever since compass joined our crew life
on board has been fun and sometimes
frustrating he's so full of energy and
protective of me and my parents don't be
fooled by his cuteness he's really tough
his favorite spot on basic is any one of
our laps
especially my dad's I'm excited to teach
him new tricks I just wish he would eat
his food without making me watch him
parents are talking big people that's
right you push a little girl okay how's
your champagne treatin you you know I
was thinking back back when we were
cruising jeez 15 years ago now yeah
don't ages and the cooking aspect
onboard I mean what the first few years
of our marriage you didn't even like I
did not cook I did not want to cook I
was so against it just because I don't
know why but after we started cruising
it really opened up well one there was
no takeout and two it really opened up
my eyes and and tastebuds
to other cuisines and cooking techniques
I was obsessed
I was literally obsessed with cooking
because a lot of our friends would say
you know oh you know you're cooking on a
boat it has to be like camping no that's
so far from the truth you can eat so
well on a boat if you really want to

am i okay seriously think back a hundred
videos ago oh trying to figure out how
to start a YouTube channel how to edit
how to film well it was for me it was
you kept saying I got this I got this
we're just gonna stick a camera in the
corner and I'm gonna work and it's
amazing how much we've learned since and
how far we still have to go yeah I mean
there's a lot to learn
we're by no means techies oh not at all
and I feel like we're so behind the ball
you know okay we were using those old
GoPros in the beginning and those have
evolved over that you don't even use
mics no mics at the beginning then we
went to that omnidirectional mic that we
went to the directional we've gone
through a lot of mics and we're still
working on it I mean that is the biggest
the biggest I guess nemesis for us is
sound and I think it's for long people
like like right now I know you could
hear this dredge right outside the boat
here it's right up next to us he's been
there all day it doesn't look like he's
going anywhere but we got to get this
video done yeah but you know it's it's
amazing that we have kind of we know
well we self-taught ourselves well yes
on this and trying to do you feel like
an expert yet no no I know but it's
learning how to put together something
that we would like to watch and
something that would be useful it's
something that we're proud of and yeah
of course but it's it's our life too so
you know we tried to you know we want to
show as much as we can and be authentic
but also you know have some privacy too
I mean you don't want to hear the jokes
that yield good home let's not even go
there I think my dad's hilarious you
know this video not only marks our
hundredth episode it coincides with our
anniversary to the day our 21st
anniversary
can you play oh yes of course I love you
honey Cheers I love the Pacific
Northwest not again
I love you too this has been an amazing
ride and I'm just so excited for what's
around the corner I mean I really am
think about it we have just started we
just started it hasn't stirred up very
smooth
yeah where's this trip but it'll get
there I mean I don't watch it woman you
are but life is not that bad we got a
little weather we get to meet
interesting people I blame him for
weather all the time it's only gonna get
better sweetheart so we wanted to wish
everyone a great date knows it's fine
even wine is why okay well that was a
lot of fun reminiscing back through a
hundred videos I really enjoyed that
yeah having that champagne that was nice
I know you enjoyed that thank you so
much for those who have been with us
from the beginning and have joined along
for the ride as well a special thank you
for patrons because you guys are what
drives our channel and we are so
appreciative and we think can't thank
you guys enough anyways guys if you like
this episode don't forget to leave a
like and subscribe
I come back for the next hundred weeks
to see the next hundred new videos see
you then
well wait a second I think we need to
keep this party going what do you think
gotta get this true life smiling or feel
like my my mouth starting to get store
it fainted why did buddy I think I
deserve another bottle of champagne
