okey-dokey well what we can share now is
our view on Scotland we honestly only
what our classes sort of like scrape the
edges of Scotland we have not explored
the full extent of Scotland by any long
job no let's see what we generously
Inner Hebrides yeah lower Inner Hebrides
those copper ones at that so so this
view does not cover the whole of
Scotland it just gives you a little bit
of an insight on what we found in
Scotland and where we went to Scotland
but you've got all the videos as to
where we are but this is just sort of
like an overall overall view of what we
did in Scotland so we started we
apologize for nice we're doing this
video today because it's blown an
absolute gale outside the board is
rocking and rolling so all the creaking
turbines the thumps the hundreds
laughing yeah so we started in poor
Ellen yes and for us poor Ellen got the
best variety award because what I'm
looking for I've decided for a walk you
know somewhere where I can get a decent
wall I want a couple of points of
interest that's close by so that there's
something to actually go and do and then
on top of that I want shops and to be
able to buy things so those are the kind
of things I'm looking for and of course
we managed to get a free bottle of
sample of Laphroaig because we had
become friends of Laphroaig
oh my goodness oh do you spoil anyway
nobody could actually finish the
Laphroaig bounty on camera but anyway so
good points of interest and but not the
greatest place to have a blow in
definitely not farewell Port Allen yes
you do right
so from corella we went to gear or Giga
depending how you pronounce it depends
who you talk to and one thing about gear
was Mearing bolts were not a problem
they had so many marine balls they could
probably get them away the choice
between the marine ball and the palm
tone was about a fiver a night we did
the marine ball because we wanted to get
salty sausage off because that was our
challenge because um I like challenging
God and said that I was good I thought
we got the same because rich I mean to
spend the extra fire I'm so glad you
said that yes we did the marine Bowl
because we wanted to get salty sausage
off because that was our challenge
definitely um you know we didn't the
crunch the extra fiber that we save by
doing that that was just spent it in the
gear restaurant which was very nice but
gear is somewhere that I would have
liked to spend a little bit more time
with because I've got it all planned in
my head that we were gonna hire a and
bicycle there for it was throwing it
down yeah really I needed to hire a gear
was oil skin it's just unfortunate with
the weather it was so he was somewhere
that I would have liked to spent a bit
more time okay um but anyway we don't
just say there the knight understand
walk
so and then we got an invite from one of
our subscribers but Mullins to go and
see him hmm
I would say about tabling an incredibly
picturesque little place they've only
got three mooring balls but they've now
got a pontoon that you can yeah so
that's got five extra spaces but just
around the corner from table ik because
one of the yachty people from liverpool
was there there was a good anchor party
a very good eye crease just for the
north of Sanok we didn't see it but the
chap we know Clive uses it quite
frequently and he says it's a really
really good Anchorage so that's just
north of table ik such a picturesque
little place but not very much in the
way of shops and the mobile signal is
zero so yeah if if you want to get away
from everything that is a great place
great because we really needed to get a
pilot notes because we wanted to do
Anchorage's and that's something that
you really need is is some pilot notes
yeah old phone lots of moving balls
outside the harbour and I would say that
if you arrive in office hours you won't
have a problem if you arrive outside
office hours you're probably better
taken the mirroring ball for the night
I'm waiting till the office opens in the
morning because getting into the
pontoons can be tricky
do you know exactly where a visitor goes
because we couldn't find any marking
saying visitor prompting so in the end
we just went to the Mary bar mmm it was
easier to go there and deal with it the
morning mmm
good Chandler's odd phone so if you're
looking for nuts and bolts and quite a
few of the little just tiny little thing
I was never in nine-to-five they were
extremely helpful no kibbles era
whatsoever
moving uh yeah from our phone we went to
open know the Simran isn't open one in
the western side which is of Marina and
one on the Tyne side which is open
transit marina and in the transit one
you can stay for three days on the other
marina you can stay for much longer
we initially went to open Marina the
western one on the island of Carrera and
very very friendly marina very friendly
staff nice little pub but sadly we're
having to give them the wooden spoon
I know it's plastic we're just gonna
have to work with yeah work with us on
this I know it's a plastic spoon but I
have to give them the wooden spoon for
the shara facilities because it's not
the fact that you have to pay a pint to
get the shower it's the fact to put the
money in the slot it's on the outside of
the shower room and you're on the inside
of the shower room and if it runs like
halfway through your shower you have to
walk start Nick it into a public area to
put another binding just move it inside
the door guys be a big improvement I'll
just point out in another marina further
up that will come to you in a bit they
had exactly the same payment system
inside the cubicle yeah so open there's
good walks good points of interest every
other water taxi to the time wore on a
water taxi so that's quite interesting
you know to make it a little bit more
interest they had the only deal we heard
about which was if you were there for
seven nights you only paid for six that
was the only deal that we heard about
but we didn't say though so I did the
downside if there's wind from the wrong
direction or swell coming through from
the ferries and things like that you did
get bounced around a bit if you're on
the outside of the pontoons and so
because of that we had around the corner
to done stuff niche which was for the
wind direction in question which was the
southerly doesn't staff beach was much
more sheltered but it's very isolated
it's very very quiet got a pupil stroked
and a fairly decent Chander's but it is
a very quiet spot I mean forget times
and things it's just
so points of interest yeah for anybody's
not the Pythian fan I was done it to
find out about three weeks later that if
I'd come out of done stuff needs to turn
right and gone about five miles out of
fine castle argh
which is quite famous and the Monty
Python and the Holy Grail movie and I
would love to find it but I didn't they
turned the other way and we went to rock
healing uh yeah so luckily was somewhere
that we did not see in its best hiding
under eye area and we didn't even get
off
salty land driving really yeah because
it was however if we had have got off
apparently there are some good fossils
to go and look for however we didn't we
didn't see any of them to see anything
particularly marked read a spongy like a
cork on a mirroring and luckily and the
finial earring so no complaint sir we
went to tobermory
and Tobermory is marine ball and they
are everywhere and there's plenty room
in the pontoons there was and again that
also had lots of interest so you've got
a good town you've got lots of shops
good variety of shops you've got a
distillery inside that in the town
itself so if you obviously like your
whiskey that's something to be looking
out for got quite a few nice walks
around place so you know it's the kind
of thing that Bev and I are looking for
is sort of like we want to be able to do
something we like to be able to take up
out and this is something we've learnt
about ourselves most in a quiet spot but
if there's something to do as well yeah
exactly so I'd say that table more is
something that somewhere that you should
think about going yourself very quaint
and everything around the just across
the bay from there is the Anchorage that
we finally put the anchor down in which
was not robbery and although absolutely
fantastic quiet
Anchorage there's
this urine at your nut you're an
inclusive lock with fairly high walls
around out of limestone and things like
that
there's no mobile signal system VHF
signals there's no Heiser's there's no
electric there's no people there's
nothing actually just you and fifty
billion ferns from there we went back to
urban but this time we went to the
transit marina the transit marina got
our second prize for the toilet
facilities great shower facilities
because it had good shower facilities
and of course you've got the town on
doorstep on your doorstep so if you do
want to have a bit nightlife you're not
having to sort of like schedule
everything with these though you're
really really close to the car ferries
and you expect to get bounced around a
lot they have put concrete pontoons in
and they really stop the swell so the
car ferries are running around a hundred
yards away and there's no swell you're
not bouncing around like a cork that's
on if you're on the inside water break
water because you can if you're a bigger
boat like very much the very most of the
mirrors and these are are on the inside
of the breakwater yeah but they put the
bigger boats like for instance the Lord
nil so the Lord Nelson which let's be
honest it's about a hundred feet long
it's a hundred feet long so it's a huge
boat yeah that was on the outside so but
on the inside because we were on the
inside there was no swell from those or
anything from the various the studies
are wrong but you can only stay there
three nights
three nights after that we went to
Trillin yeah we did the Anchorage who
did another Anchorage which was just
who's a nice Anchorage but we relearn
the lesson that if you can't get off on
the dinghy there's not much point in
being in the Anchorage that's true then
we went to critten then we went to Crane
and yeah and we decided to do the
craning canal and that cost us a hundred
nineteen thirty quid which and Musco the
marinas which were we were doing were
about thirty three pound a night for
thirty threes is 132 so we decided the
mesmo got our money's worth out of the
Crillon and do
over four nights so our first night was
actually at grinnin marina our Korean
sort of basin isn't our second night was
at the top the second night is at the
top and I was third and fourth nights
were and I think it's Trish aghh yes so
on the grinning canal it's expensive but
if you want to avoid bad weather gonna
run the Mulliken tower it's an option
it's an option
Beverly won't be doing canals again but
that's only because she doesn't why I'm
not a canal person no but you also
didn't like the narrow confines I didn't
like the fact that things like pontoons
were like a niche longer than the vote
hmm yeah I mean and canals were about an
inch wider than the vote things I mean
they really cut it to the bone and
canals we do but anyway so um we did the
canal yeah from there we're gonna just
turn the page and we went into the Clyde
no we were we were lower like fine by
then and through the weather took a bit
of a turn and we decided to nip into
Tarbert and have a shelter yes and
locked Arbor is our winner for the
flower block Awards heated floors in the
shower block really nice shower blocks
amid Lee it is brand new so um it's roll
done no I know but it was really really
nice shower blocks
I saw the harbor very quint many nice
shops plenty of nice shops I didn't
didn't go much further than the town
yeah I'm sure if you were there for a
bit longer you could have found some
nice points of interest but certainly a
nice little harbour and it was great
little place out of the blue wasn't it
back there we skedaddle over to large
but to be honest we're in and idle argh
so quick this hardly seems fair to judge
this uh yeah but satin sails did a great
job on Streisand seals did a great job
and we got some bargains in the Childers
yes cuz we got the dry matting from
there and we got some pile of books in
there which will reduce time yep
so getting secondhand or sort of older
pilot books always a good idea so yes so
we went to logs and then from there we
went to mill port which it wins the most
surprising find award purely because
we'd never heard of the place before I
know why I mean if we've never heard of
Tarbert it would probably be a contender
but mill port we didn't know the
existence when somebody said why did you
go to mill important so we did all but
the moorings were fantastic murmurings
yep and the other thing about those
particular Maurice is they were like 10
pounds a night for the visitor moorings
and there were a couple both didn't know
where what they were which were
apparently free but I didn't see those
particular ones but the ones that got
the word visitor on a 10 pounds of so in
a great time milk or and then after that
we skedaddle over to tree now Troon is
one of the places you can get a deal
only if you have got a only if you are
murder in your permanent marina and it's
a trans-europe marina so if you have got
a trans-europe card then you can get a
discount there you can't get discount
which is five nights at half price but
once again Trane is one of those that
it's a little hard for us to judge it
comes with a bit of a soft spot for
trading because we bought a softy
doesn't ring yeah but the shops not too
far they've got a decent supermarket
within easy walking distance and the
marina building and showers and they're
very very nice as well
Pedro so from June we went across Tulum
Lachelle um lush oh all I just want to
say in the Firth of Clyde we had some
great sailing mmm because the wind isn't
quite as tunneled as what we it's very
big and wide so the wind doesn't funnel
about you so we actually had some
sailing we okay it wasn't a short sale
down to Tarbert but that was okay until
got really bit windy then we had a
fantastic sail over to sat in the sails
and we had a good sail from mill port as
well yeah I'll meet a fairly decent seal
from Trent or by 10 miles I or five
miles like from lamb nice let me to put
the engine on at that point yeah but we
got quite a lot of we got a lot of the
way and then there's the wind just died
and we were stuck in the middle of
nowhere
yeah but we've got good good sales so
anyway wind open a lamb latch again
moorings at 10 pounds rich juice and
again somewhere we did not see that's
best because the weather was absolutely
fine
it was so ah my friend lamb night was
just a big gray patch ah so unfortunate
yeah but anyway we were there and like I
say somewhere that I think with better
weather I think it would be brilliant
but we just did not see it as his best
but it certainly wealth tected and also
I'd like to found out a little bit more
about the marine conservation area
because that's something that's close to
our hearts is now and then from lamb
lash we skedaddle over time because we
had noticed the weather forecast it was
a weather window coming up which would
be very very good for crossing the North
channel to Ireland and holy bean in the
North channel a few times in the last
few months we've decided we'd like to be
in the North Channel but we have the
nicest weather possible because we're
feeding the North channel mediocre well
they're quite frank you don't really
want to be there so we laid it over to
Campbell time in double-quick time in a
horrible grey weather and that was the
one time in our Scottish Odyssey that we
completely lost sight of land even
though it was only five miles away the
mist was so heavy we couldn't see a
thing so that was totally instrument
sailing because we couldn't see where I
was going
yeah we got into Campbell time
yeah we've got a mooring because
everybody was rafted up on the it's not
a very big marina and people start
drafting up quite quickly and it gets
overloaded so we stack a marine ball and
then they went to the next day to pick
up some diesel hmm
and then that was it so the end of our
Scottish on say yeah if that was my
coverage northern oh so so overall where
we did the best sailing was in the Firth
of Clyde Clyde and Loch Fyne and also
when we did a lot fine that was the best
sailing all of the lap we did an awful
lot more motoring than I'd like
and I think that's to do with the
topography in the fact that things are
just funneling and yeah we can tack but
when you tuck in all the time we tried
tugging a locker ignition we nearly
round the side yeah so because it's so
narrow that by the time you got the
bolts settled on the tacky of virtually
run into depth so so um so a bit more
motoring than we'd like as you can see
because we only went up just sort of
like two Tobermory we haven't explored
very much of Scotland so this is only a
it's somewhere that we all go again but
I think what we'll do next time when we
go again is will be better equipped to
anchor and more knowledgeable and I
crane
