finally back at the yard
i first needed to clear the boat when we
left we put as much inside as possible
and now i had to undo the temperatures
[Music]
next was to build a workshop the sun is
still brutal
and with more rain now i needed a space
where neither sun nor rain could stop me
from working
it's raining cats and dogs here
the whole night yesterday already
and i'm so happy i have all these
tops set up with my workshop
everything is dry over there i got the
awning out and the tops
and with the roof i built here
everything is dry
except the river going through my
workshop here
once that was set we started the final
sanding
and start fairing the hull was dry now
and we applied west system epoxy with
407
to fair the house
this is what we want
it took us seven hours
now guess what we had to send the hull
again
it doesn't have to be a race boat but i
want it smooth enough to
clean off monica it's pretty easy so
tomorrow we see if we did a good job or
not
so after many days of hard work
and today after a long day as well
we're finally done with fairing
tomorrow we're going to apply barrier
coat
i don't know how many times we sanded it
but all of a sudden it was done
and we were ready for the new barrier
code this was a turning point
for the first time in 13 months we are
putting things on the hull
and not taking them off the proper epoxy
barrier coat
needs seven coats the first one
is just plain epoxy to assure a good
bonding
but then we added six coats with the 422
barrier code additive
[Music]
and even i had a few hands helping me we
finished
long after the sun went down
how's it going guys
having fun but even in darkness
it looked amazing
[Music]
you are true heroes thank you so much
for your mucho gracias amigos
[Music]
now we had a run and next morning we
watched all the amy blush off and
started sanding again
when i cleaned the table i was shocked
how much material you used
and how much all of that had cost me
better don't count
holy cow this is just from the last
couple of weeks
we filled the spots where the blocks and
stands were
and then the day had come to apply
primer and finally
finally three coats of bottom head
one of the best moments during a refit
is peeling off the masking tape
it means you did it the job is finished
and you get to see your work for the
first time
a moment i never forget
putting the name on and working on the
final details is also very rewarding
thanks to boatsign.de we had this
stunning 3d boat lettering
and attaching them was a piece of cake
it's my last 24 hours here in the boat
yeah today's sunday
uh november 3rd
and tomorrow i splash it's 7 something
and tomorrow morning at eight ish i go
into the water
so i gotta clean up here it's a big mess
try to get rid of my extra stuff and
dump the trash all the wood i cut off
and all the other stuff so i'm kind of
busy and i load the boat i put stuff on
it yesterday already it's loaded already
but now i've got to put all the final
sinks on it
24 hours to go keep you posted
now look how beautiful zero is
i didn't sleep much the last few days
but i was determined to leave
i had a day pat are you excited too and
nothing would make me change that
project list got shorter and shorter and
everything i couldn't sell
i donated to the locals i'm leaving
and i'm not going to take this until the
roof
on the table loaded with wood
getting better
14 months after we steered zero into the
boatyard
leaving that dirty place felt like
running out of a long
dark tunnel seeing the light growing
bigger and brighter with every step
the smell of freedom a tear in my eyes
and a shiny armor around my pride for
gently reminding me
not to get one of these please
don't make me go back
the house is moving huh yeah
not a long ride today just around the
corner
and over there is there an arrow
according to almost three marina
50 pesos a day a little beaten up but
that's our destination here
i finished a few smaller projects like
rebuilding the stairs to the salon
but also celebrated the newfound freedom
his friend
cleaned the boat and left taking a rest
prawns and we're going to break oh yeah
[Music]
better than before
hi my name is zero and i feel newly
reborn
i'm the most beautiful boat around i'm
going to cross oceans
and take the distant shores don't even
try to stop me
[Music]
beating hearts don't lie
[Music]
[Music]
it's already
[Music]
after two weeks on the dock here in
emerald
i decided to go to anchor in san carlos
today
oh it feels so good i hope there's some
wind out there so i can see it but
this boat is not really ready to sail
yet anyway it looks actually more like
it
harbour branch patch phase when i
started the engine
was like hold on what's that
why is everything vibrating where's the
noise coming from we're doing now
but that's her home she grew up here
that's
everything she remembered was this not
moving and all of a sudden it's moving
oh man san carlos here we come
[Music]
[Music]
it's just me and my boat
it's just
