This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build.
These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. You make a real difference!!

delivery this is something that is
fairly adventurous is something like all
of us for the future in the build and I
am NOT ready yet
just look screw and only time noise
gives you a clue was in that
nice beautiful it like going somewhere
it's a Muir windlass I want to mount on
the mast horizontally like that turn
around to face you to get the chain
gypsy and capstone for a rope should I
need it they do come just with the
change-up see but I thought well maybe
you need to pull up rope in as well so
that's kind of an amount horizontally on
the mast with with the anchor chain
spinning down from it there and it's
mule made in Australia I believe them to
be brilliant quality and the design is
very much in keeping with what mr.
Binford recommends for these boats easy
also Ezzor horizontal wind this two
mounted on the mast and I have to say
it's very exciting I saw these I looked
at them for years and that the price is
scary for me but then I found a place in
Germany funnily enough either well I
thought was a reasonable price so I
thought well how long is that gonna last
I better buy one so so obviously it will
be fitted somewhere down the road the
year or so to get to fit in that but um
it's there put it in stock and after say
it's beautiful looking forward to trying
that out
and that sequence about the the windlass
please so question perhaps and and it's
time for me to get perhaps a little bit
controversial because I want to do
something that not everybody would agree
with I'm sure the question is so the
windlass mounted here on that on the
foremast
somewhere there and the question is
where's the chain go and I as I say
about to get controversial I have an
objection the holes in my deck that lead
down below plus the fact that this is a
32 foot boat and isn't it is that the
full of spice um and I am NOT gonna
leave it down below I'm gonna have a box
on deck which is just under construction
this issue's stood there loosely at the
moment but a box on deck with a lid on
it
catch that the anchor chain will feed
from that winch down into there that'll
be it and I did something very similar
on my last poem that was splendid it was
just fine so what we'll be doing the
anchor chain will be stored in here in
this box has a lid on it and with that
wind it's there somewhere it will lead
nicely down into that box a bit of
pendous and let's suppose the anchor
terribly yeah there we go so that's in
progress boxes under construction I've
lined the inside out with a very heavy
duty roving outside just with normal
cloth epoxy not to do this don't really
but made a start

and then perhaps the main thrust this
week has been the deck up here
I shouldn't sit on that good it sounded
prepped up and ready to go
one coat so far of epoxy prime right so
we've got a long way to go on the sides
and I'll do the same here we had six
coats two of the white then two of the
green and the two were at a white six
coats in total we'll be doing the same
here but it's made I've made to start
good

you might remember I've got it all shut
up there but if you play we'll remember
that's back in fit brewery I ordered
some lights and at the spot I've got no
complaints with the supplier a
transparent the children of general so
they finally arrived yesterday I take
them about three months to get here but
I guess it's coronavirus and all of that
for this the two lights for the cabin
look quite nice yeah those they'll be up
on the bulk of the 24 for cabin and the
main saloon pretty nice so we get
married of a good few moments right and
guys that's it for this week thanks for
watching yourself thumbs up please I'll
even better hit that subscribe button
and we'll be seeing you next time bye
