All of the cabin lights are now in and working, including the somewhat reluctant replacement of 3 older lights with new LED versions. The foot pump in the heads is installed and plumbed in and Hazel makes progress with her custom composting toilet build.
This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build.
These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. You make a real difference!!

soon we'll see
what it's about

okay
hi all es vita pacha we're building a
cruising salvo
let me start off this week it's the 24th
december
christmas eve start off by wishing you
all a very
very merry christmas happy holidays
or whatever it is you have at this time
of year have a good one
it's a funny whole year on it funny time
but um do our best
make the most of it so have a good one
enjoy yourselves
this week has has been all about um
the electrics are going on basically
i've come to the end of this phase of
the electrics now next week i'll be on
to
a new section but this week i've been
sorting out the cabin
lights finally all 13 cabin lights are
now
in and functioning um
i had to make up the the backing plates
that some of them mount on
i've used cherry wood for the backing
plates
sometimes i have to have to route some
some
routing for the cables into the back of
the cherry plates
mounting them up on there um i've put a
led light strip up in the galley under
the shelving with a switch
it's coming very well so now i say we've
got 13
lights another thing i did was i had a
couple of old lights that i tried
using led adapters in and
in the end i wasn't happy with them i
didn't like the way the adapters fitted
so
i've changed those now for new led
lights or led throughout
new led throughout i've only used with
the exception of the led strip i've only
used two
types of lights um which means that i
don't need to carry very many types of
spare bulbs
basically so that's very simple
same two lights all through and i say 13
different cabin lights in
all working and this is the mains led
that
this very bright light that's over there
but if i switch it off
and switch on the camera lights it's a
very nice
warm glow um very happy with it i don't
know what they'd be like if they're
ideal for filming but but
for natural you know when we're here
really it's a lovely warm glow in there
so it's very nice very pleased

foreign
so
like that
[Applause]
yes oh beautiful
lovely
and as i say that that's the end of this
electrics phase it's
been very very time consuming you've
probably noticed well
i think three weeks of videos on on
electrics it's it's
it's a fiddly game that takes a long
time but
done for this phase next week my plan is
to
make up a couple of dummy masts get them
in position
um and start to fit the mass steps
just you know i said dummy must just
short enough
short masks that will go from the step
up through the deck
extend a little bit above the deck but
it's just so i can get the line right to
get the angle right
so that's the plan for next week crack
on with that make up a couple of short
dummy mass and fit the mast steps
exciting times
[Applause]
[Applause]
that one

[Applause]
uh
[Applause]
um
[Applause]
hey
great lovely happy
yeah meanwhile we're we're pushing on
with hazel's boat a bit we're
glassing some applied panels for her uh
but she's doing it to be honest
um fly panels that will be the
composting toilet that we're
putting into our boats
funny
something else i wanted to tell you
about is that over on the
patreon site for sv to patcher i've
started a
some short videos a set of short videos
called behind the scenes it's sort of
more
casual sort of talks about
things that are going on in the boat
build so if you're interested
get over to the sp to patient patreon
site there are two episodes up so far
episodes is a big grand two short videos
up so far
and i hope to keep those going on
roughly speaking at least a four like
fortnightly basis just showing some of
the sort of behind the scenes things
things that are going on here and that's
it for now
thanks for watching short video this
week um
enjoy your holidays stay safe stay
healthy
and see you next time bye
