Hello all, Sonya here!
I have been meaning to share this achievement with you guys, and with a rainy day like today there's no excuse but to crank out a quick video to share with you!
A while back I woke up one morning & decided that I was going to attempt to take our boat, Gemini, to the pompout dock & back by myself - no one else onboard.
Here's a quick video of my experience & thoughts on practicing solo docking/sailing.

all right so it is a rainy day here in
Emeryville and we are just taking the
day to do a couple good projects and I
figured it was a perfect opportunity to
throw together a quick little video of
my solo docking experience on Gemini so
the first time I docked by myself and it
was pretty empowering and I'm excited to
share it with you guys all right enjoy
morning guys it's Sunday and Jack just
left to go check out a client's boat and
I am about to go to the pump out by
myself for the very first time I
consider myself to be pretty experienced
and I feel pretty comfortable with
Gemini maneuvering her and everything
but I've actually never done it without
jack on board so it's really calm out
today and I'm gonna go give it a shot
of course the one time I wanted my GoPro
to get some great footage it wasn't
recording alright guys I made it to the
pump out dock halfway there let's see if
I can make it home check it out our slip
is over there it's not really that far
at all but
I tried to back her in like we normally
do but without the extra hands and my
nerves on edge it was a little difficult
so I decided to go bow in
made it back to the dock success well I
am back in the slit I would say that was
a success and I feel really good right
now I'm kind of pumping with adrenaline
I went really low and slow the whole way
back from the dock and tried twice to to
do this brown and back her in but just
didn't quite line it up right so I
figured why not just go simple with the
bow in docking today since it's my first
time being all alone on the boat but I
felt really good and honestly she she
turns on a dime I didn't feel
uncomfortable I just felt like I didn't
didn't have any extra hands which is the
one thing that's kind of hard but for
all you fellow sailors out there if
you've never gone to to another dock on
your boat by herself try it out she's a
really nice calm warning and go see see
how you feel cuz you never know when
you're gonna need to be by yourself on
your boat and I want to be able to feel
like I can do everything that Jack can
do
