With over 300 yacht entries and 3,000 competitors annually taking part in the event, the Festival of Sails Regatta is one of the nation’s oldest sporting events, and has evolved over many years culminating in its current format as Australia’s foremost keelboat regatta.
Running alongside the sailing action, the free community Waterfront Festival features numerous acts across three stages and a multitude of stallholders to provide you with fine food and wine, live music, entertainment and roving performers, art and craft market stalls, novelty stalls, an on-water Come & Try Zone and a dedicated family friendly kids zone all along the stunning Geelong Waterfront and in the Royal Geelong Yacht Club.

Entry Cancellation and Refunds
If written cancellation of entry is received at the Regatta Office prior to 1600hrs, Friday 10th January 2020, the entry fee less a $100 administration charge, will be refunded. Thereafter refunds will be made only in exceptional circumstances. In the event of a race being abandoned or cancelled, entry fees will not be refunded.
TROPHIES
Trophies and prizes will be awarded to boats placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each series. Other trophies may be awarded at the discretion of the Race Committee.
The Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race will have trophies awarded for Line Honours Overall and in both Monohull and Multihull Divisions.
Deakin University Helmswoman Trophy — To be awarded to the woman whose boat finishes the Passage Race as best performed boat on handicap within its Division, when compared across all Divisions. The helmswoman must be at the helm for at least 75% of the race period, including a minimum of one hour commencing from the preparatory signal. She must also be at the helm for at least 15 minutes prior to and including the finish. In the event of eligible boats having the same finishing position in different Divisions, the boat that is in the Division with the largest number of entries, will be the winner.
Passage Race Youth Team Trophy — To be awarded to the boat which finishes the Passage Race as best performed boat on handicap within its Division, when compared across all Divisions. The helmsperson must be under 25 years of age as of 25/01/2020. They must be at the helm for at least 75% of the race period, including a minimum of one hour commencing from the preparatory signal. They must also be at the helm for at least 15 minutes prior to and including the finish. The boat must have 75% of the crew under 25 years of age as of 25/01/2020. In the event of eligible boats having the same finishing position in different Divisions, the boat that is in the Division with the largest number of entries, will be the winner.
PRIZE GIVING FUNCTIONS
Trophies and prizes will be awarded on the main stage at RGYC as soon as practicable after racing on Monday 27th January 2020 for all Classes.
