The 20th edition of the Vele Storiche Viareggio regatta concluded on Sunday with an awards ceremony honoring crews from across Italy and abroad. Over five days, the city welcomed more than 50 vintage and classic sailboats, transforming the coast into a vibrant celebration of maritime heritage.
Organized by the Vele Storiche Viareggio Association and the Nautical Club, with support from the Municipality and Port Authority, the event blended competitive races, cultural exhibitions, and social gatherings. Legendary vessels built between the 1920s and 1970s—meticulously restored—graced the waters with elegance and vigor, captivating spectators with their auric and Bermudian sails.
A highlight of this symbolic edition was the debut of the training ship Nave Palinuro in Viareggio, marking a proud milestone for the organizers. The closing toast on the pier and heartfelt farewells from the crews sealed an unforgettable tribute to the sea’s enduring beauty and spirit.
