Austin is a surprisingly perfect place
for the NSPS for a couple of reasons
number one as a college town it's got
ton of entertainment and surprisingly
it's a very water focused region
national sailing program symposium and
the sailing Leadership Forum are
conferences that u.s. sailing so that
helps organize and what we do in these
words in these events is we bring these
experts together so it's three days of
subject matter experts training sail
training leaders in everything from
employee management to fixin outboard
engines not only is it great
professional development but it's the
single biggest networking tool that
sailing professionals have this is the
most important thing that us sailing
does in terms of bringing the programs
together my favorite part of being here
at NSPS is really seeing my friends we
email and talk throughout the entire
year but this is a week that we always
look forward to being able to come
together share the joys that we've
experienced throughout the year and our
programs and also share the struggles
and talk about it and face to face and
really making that human connection
between the different programs across
the country what's great here is that
even within the vendors you have a
variety you have online education
represented you have boat vendors you
really get a full-scale representation
of what's out there in a training and
education space and you get to see not
only what's happening now but what's
going to be happening in the next few
years you should come to NSPS because it
is one of the single most fun social
events it's an excellent professional
development opportunity it's a great way
to network with people in the industry
and you get to try out new boats and be
out on the water in the middle of
January most of all for me I'm
completely energized when
to these conferences when I leave I go
back and I can implement the things I've
learned
