Sailing Italy to Sicily. Stopped By The Coastguard. Migrants Steal Yacht And Abandon It On A Beach! You would think that this is an easy crossing with no drama. However, the waters have strong currents, the water is shallow and there is a lack of marinas and anchorages that can take our 2M (6ft) draft. Then there is the Illegal migrant crisis that is going on in Italy and Sicily. Boats are stolen and taken across from eastern Europe. We see one abandoned on a beach and others tied up in the marina. In 2018 we left the UK to sail around the world slowly. After Brexit, a "Pandemic" and major heart surgery we are still sailing, documenting our travels and showing you what we have learned so far.
We are hoping to complete our journey, and travel right around the world even if we have had a few setbacks along the way. We will continue at our own pace and that may be fast or slow. We want to be sure not to miss anything and have stories to tell our grandchildren when we are old and grey.
